Outer Banks Stopover
I was traveling with my sister and mother on our way to a Thanksgiving celebration. The hotel is located just a dune walk away from the ocean which is great! The hotel's elevator to the rooms was at the top of a large ramp (basically the second floor). The ramp was very tedious to manage with the luggage cart. This is not a good situation for any handicapped person and a bit of a chore for my 86 yr old mother. The hotel was also undergoing a renovation and not very attractive. The staff, however, was very friendly and helpful.

Quick get away.
We had a lovely time. The free breakfast was lovely. The 1st floor room was very musty and smelly, probably because of the water damage they had from hurricane Irene. They were still repairing damage in several rooms. It is an older hotel so there is some inconveniences, like the ramp you have to use to push your luggage carrier up to get to the elevator. Otherwise, it was a great vacation!

Don't go to Miller's accross the street. It is expensive and the quality was not up to par. Ask the hotel for recommendations, they didn't let us down!

Great getaway
The hotel amenities were great. The building is old and needs repainting. The AC in the room was very loud and could not sleep well. The breakfast was great with hot items. We enjoyed the most the pool, hot tub and being close to the beach.

Do Not Stay Here!
Horrible hotel. Huge disappointment. It is old, dirty and the staff was completely apathetic. There was a broken beer bottle right next to the elevator that no one bothered to clean up for two days. The room had a mildew smell and was extremely dirty. it was also very noisy. The pictures we saw online were not representative of the actual hotel. And the staff didn't seem to care about any of it. After we decided to check out early, we asked if they wanted to know why and their response was "i'm too busy right now to care". Don't stay here!

2nd Times the Charm
This is the second year we have stayed at the Comfort Inn. This year we decided to get the ocean front room with a king sized bed and it was well worth it. The room was much bigger than the street front room we had last year. The tub did not get stopped up with water this year. The gym was also working this year and my girlfriend enjoyed the eliptical machine while I used the pulley weights. It wasn't a full gym but it was fine for vacation. We keep choosing this hotel for the location and price. As in my past review, it's not a 5 star Hilton but for the price it's a great 3 star hotel. I recommend getting the ocean front room with a king sized bed....it'll cost more but it's worth it. I look forward to going there again next year!

We really enjoyed Fogata for Mexican food and Fiji for lunch take-out sushi and hibachi. I'd advise against Mexicali Mexican food near the hotel....not good Mexican.

You Get What You Pay For
If you're looking for an average hotel that's on the beach and at a good price then this hotel is for you. Here are the good things: The price was right. It was beach front and a short walk to the beach. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was waffles, cereal and muffins. Great location to most restaurants. The room was clean and ready when we got there. There were lounge chairs there we carried to the beach. The AC and fridge both worked really well. Here are the bad things: The "Fitness Center" had hardly anything in it, was the size of my office at home and 80% of the equipment was broken or out of order. The tub constantly had water back up in it when we showered. The iron in our room did not work. The kiddie pool wasn't clean. If you're in a wheelchair......good luck. I wouldn't try going up their ramps indoors......they are well above 45 degrees quite dangerous. The elevator is slow but beach access is at the bottom of the stairwell so skip the wait. All in all I had a great time this past weekend. I was most upset about not being able to use the fitness area and lack working equipment. In the end the price is right, the location was perfect and we only hung out in the hotel for breakfast and to sleep. It's not a 5 star hotel but if you want the Hilton then why are you at the Comfort Inn? It's a great 3 star hotel for Nags Head though.

Seen better days
The staff was friendly and all the facilities were clean but some the details started to crop up through the stay. We were traveling with another couple and their A/C made a loud growling noise when turned on. Their room was missing the in-room hotel guide (3 ring binder) so they had to borrow ours to look up some local contact info. The wi-fi never worked during the Saturday/Sunday stay. The elevator always worked but never gave you a warm fuzzy that it wasn't ready to give up the ghost at any time. Several places had that well worn look.

Comfort Inn on the Ocean was a disaster
Check-in date: Nov 28, 2009 Room description: 2 Double beds no smoking no pets allowed balcony free high-speed internetAbove is the description provided on [...] website. When we arrived, we were given a room facing the street and part of the roof -- NOT A BALCONY. There were dogs EVERYWHERE... barking in rooms, being walked in and out of the motel by guests, etc. 'no pets allowed'??? In our room, we could hear dogs barking in the room below (and the owners were not at the hotel) I complained to the manager and was told that 'they are working on contacting the owners by cell phone but there was 'no answer''. We demanded another room and one facing the ocean [...] and was given one on the 4th floor. The wireless internet [...]did not work. Overall, a very unsatisfactory stay. On other note... you have to push your luggage up two fairly steep ramps to get to the elevators -- a potentially dangerous endeavor!!!
