Proximity Hotel

We made an impromptu trip to Greensboro for the Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament and decided to stay at the Proximity Hotel. It came highly recommended by a coworker who hosted a graduation party for her daughter there a few months before. I loved the industrial feel of the architecture mixed with lush textiles and furniture. The ambience was very romantic and welcoming. My one (small) complaint was that after the game, around 12:00am, we went to the bar for a nightcap and they had pulled up the chairs and were already sweeping the floor, even though they didn't close for over an hour. We felt uncomfortable and imposing, so after drinking one drink pretty swiftly, we headed to bed. This was just a minor hiccup in an otherwise lovely trip. The front desk staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was very comfortable and chic. It was (almost) everything I was looking for in a short getaway.

We stayed one night and saw the Avett Brothers at the Greensboro Coliseum which was a five minute drive from the hotel. We loved the hotel - comtemporary style but not in a cold or weird sense. The business stations and coolers with drinks paid by "honor system" on each floor was a feature I have never seen - gives you a sense of what this place is all about. We ate at the bar before the show and the food was excellent. Will stay again if ever in Greensboro.

Upon checking into our hotel room we found bugs . The manager indicated they were stink bugs that came in when windows were open during cleaning. They offered to give us another room on another side of the building assuring us that room would be bug free. However we were too uncomfortable to stay. They were kind enough to refund our total price even though it was a non-refundable rate. For that we were grateful. The decor, however, was a little too sterile for our taste, so everything worked out for the best.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in! You can really tell a difference between great places like this and the typical generic, high-end chain hotel!

very beautiful and unique hotel...only stayed one night but handsomely decorated and very comfy....a unique bathroom door and some other not so traditional features....wonderful restaurant there as well

My son and I loved the modern design and "green" philosophy under which they operate. The down sides include small errors in our room service order, (like ordering a burger with no onions and extra pickles, and having it arrive WITH onions and no pickles. Also empty salt shaker and not the correct quanity of beverages. Other drawbacks are that the pool is tiny, with no hot tub, and the doors on the hall all make noise when opening and closing, so when our neighbors were coming and going, I was waking and having to fall back asleep.
