Sheraton Imperial

With the size of the hotel, and considering it is a Sheraton, I expected superior service. However, I only received okay service. Nothing there made me want to return to that hotel. As a result, I have no desire to return to that Sheraton in the future. While the hotel was clean with modern decor, it seemed that the majority (not all) of the hotel staff members could use some hotel customer service improvement. Upon checking in, I was not provided any map or instrucion on finding the needed amenities for my stay. I had to find the pool, gym and etc all on my own. In addition, some of the front desk attendants seemed to be distracted and not interested in helping to ensure that my stay was ideal. The hotel restaurant menu has limited choices and is over priced for the choices available. I didn't want a cheeseburger but couldn't find any thing else that seemed appealing. The cheeseburger I received was made from a boxed patty that was overly charred (which caused me severe digestion the rest of the day)served with packets of mayonnaise (Yes. really, packets of mayonnaise that were some off brand that I never heard of). There was delicious sweet tea which can typically be a challenge to find at hotels and restaurants. Further, I had a business meeting to attend which required me to iron my shirt. The iron in my room was at least a few years old. There was no way to identify the settings as the paint that previously marked these was gone. In addition, the mister on the iron sprayed out puddles of water, soaking my shirt. I had to dry each of the "puddles" with the iron which took farmore time than what should have been required to iron a simple dress shirt. These is an example of something that the hotel staff should have noticed prior to renting the room. The a/c in my room was not workig properly. Despite lowering the thermostat to 70 degrees, I woke up drenched in sweat. This, too, should haveb been checked prior to renting the room. Overall, it seemed that the management should provide processes and training for staff members to better anticipate the hotel's customers' needs and inform patrons of the amenities offered by the hotel.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

After the restaurant had closed with only room service available, I wanted a bottle of water. Of course, I could have paid $3.50 for the large bottle in the room but felt that I didn't want such a large bottle and surely didn't want to pay that price. I asked if any vending machines sold bottled water and I was told that I could find drink vending machines on all floors but 2 & 7?. However, when I finally located them, I wasn't able to find one with a dollar bill changer. HINT: Bring quarters in case you want something to drink late at night.

Very Nice Accommodations/TERRIFIC STAFF

The primary purpose of our trip was to attend our daughter's graduation from UNC/Chapel Hill, but we added a few days to explore the Raleigh/Durham area. This property suited our needs very well...lovely room, awesome linens and lots of fresh white towels, ample hot water, delightful and accommodating staff, easy-access to the freeway yet very quiet and close proximity to everything we needed to get to. Excellent coffee in the room and staff was eager to provide as much as we wanted. Our only disappointment...a fitness center was listed. It was a Gold's Gym located next door to the hotel and cost $7 per person to use. The overview of the hotel made it sound as if the fitness center was on-site and complimentary.

Be sure to check out the food vendor in the lobby. We didn't realize it was there until the morning we checked out. The hotel has a breakfast buffet avail for $9.95 per person, but the food vendor would be a nice, inexpensive alternate option, especially if you are staying more than one day.

Not Up To Sheraton Standards

As a regular Sheraton customer, I was disappointed in this particular location. The little things weren't managed quite as well as one would expect. A pipe burst in my bathroom, causing flooding. The sheets and blankets felt "cheap". The staff was very friendly, but didn't pay attention to the small things. For example, they vacuumed the halls in the early morning hours instead limiting cleaning to empty rooms. Also, it was not as clean as expected, particularly walls in the restrooms were dirty. And regular maintenance was lacking - such as cracked sinks (I noticed two cracked sinks). Again, the staff was friendly, and direct service was prompt, including room service. Also, the food was good. But I personally will choose the Sheraton 5 miles down the road for my next trip.

Very nice & great location

This hotel is in a great location for the whole Triangle area. It's easy to get to Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill. The room was very comfortable - fantastic bed & pillows. Quiet. Nice staff. Free computer use. A convenient cafe/mart in lobby, in addition to restaurant. Use of Gold's gym next door. Really have nothing negative to say. Would stay there again.

Good experience

I had read other reviews and I didn't know what to expect. The Service at the registration desk was excellent, as was the location. The rooms are comfortable, but you can hear all the noise from the hallway. Overall it was a good experience

very nice hotel for business travel

Hotel was very clean. Very personable and professional staff. The only thing I disliked for personal travel was limited options for dining. Menu was fine, but didnt want to have a $50 dinner each night on personal travel. Standard room did not have a refrigerator.
