Great weekend getaway!

My husband and I stayed this past weekend. We were able to walk to the Tobacco Road Cafe for lunch and catch some college football games before enjoying a Vienna Tieng concert next door at the Carolina Theater that night. This is the only downtown Durham hotel that is close to lots of attractions and provides all the amenities needed.

Great Stay in Durham

The Marriott was perfect for what I was looking for in Durham. The location is great. There are several bars and restaurants within walking distance, and it was easy to get to Duke. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. I also appreciated the free parking across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Durham Stay

Clean rooms and friendly staff were a plus. The location is within a close distance to most restaurants and bars. Downside is there is no on site pool or hot tub.

Strong Smell of Cig. Smoke!

Our recent stay in room 506 was poor. As soon as we walked in the door, the strong smell of smoke knocked me for a loop! Nasty smell! I immediately went to the maid that was just around the corner and asked what could be done. She sprayed some odor neutralizer, but it was only a temporary fix. I then reported it to the front desk and asked for another room. They were all booked up and could not provide an alternative. I wanted to make sure that this report was noted as the room sign said, 'If one smokes in this non-smoking room, a $250 cleaning service was be charged'. The next morning I checked the front desk and repeated our dissatisfaction and nothing was offered to us. Rather poor customer service!

Great for DPAC show

The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean. Overall not a flashy place but convenient for seeing a show at Durham's Performing Art Center and the bed was comfy. Parking is offsite, but close.

Great site for proximity to Bulls park

The small things like the orange flavored ice water near the elevators make it a nice, friendly place to stay. Also the proximity to the Durham Bulls baseball park add to the convenience. We also were able to make a short drive to Chapel Hill for some world famous barbecue.
