Great option for convention center conference

Staff were very friendly. Rooms were comfortable and a great value. Within easy walking distance of the Convention Center. Free internet available in lobby, although not free in rooms. Only problem was that keys frequently demagnetized (and they were not near a cell phone); by end of trip I would get my key rekeyed every time before I rode the elevator up to my room.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

If there's not a line, get your key rekeyed each time before you ride the elevator up to your room. Our keys demagnetized at least once a day.

Charlotte Convention Center visit

The Blake is an older hotel that appears to be in the process of remodeling. The lobby was contemporary and clean and the staff, friendly and courteous. The rooms were clean with quality linens and towels. The room was quiet, bed and pillows comfortable, and the bathroom clean and contemporary with plenty of hot water. I would probably have gone with 4 stars were it not for a twitchy thermostat that was difficult to set resulting in a room that was either a little too warm or too cold and a low mounted shower head that was located below my chin (for reference, I’m 6 ft tall). Some dated aspects to the room included wall paper with a couple patches in place, carpeting, and shower valve trim. In the end, I had a nice clean room and a quiet comfortable stay at a very reasonable price.

Nothing special

The hotel is an odd mix of fixed up, new and run down. The elevators looked very old, and I had a mirror in my room that was just leaning up against the wall and wasn't attached to anything. Also, the shower design is horrible. The lobby was very nice. That said, everyone was friendly, the price was decent, and the location was acceptable (I think it would have been much better if I had driven in). Overall, it wasn't a great hotel, but I didn't feel like it was a bad value. As they renovate, I imagine it will be a very nice hotel in the future.

Bathroom is awful !

Not enough lighting in the room. The bathroom and tub were really poorly design and every time the water is turn on, rust / clay would come out making a stain on the tub.

Good, but not super nice.

Clean and about half renovated. Don't expect to get good coffee within walking distance.

Confort

This is a hotel located 5 mins away from the Epicenter by taxi. Its old but still confortable . The pool and bar area are not as appealing as they seem on the internet. Wi fi is charged as well as parking and breakfast. Elevators need renovation.

For $139 a night, I expected more!

The lobby is beautiful, the restaurant was up beat and had great food, and the staff was very professional. That is all I can say good about the hotel. The rooms were falling apart. The sink wasn't attached to the counter. The pipes in the shower were not secured. The walls where the caulking was was dissolved and moldy. There is no shower door or curtain. The temperature control was freezing cold or off. We attempted to use the elevator several times. It always took us to the wrong floor, or get stuck on the 6th floor. Not fun to walk up 7 flights of stairs every time.
