Location, location, location!
We stayed here for one night only to attend a concert at Ovens Auditorium. This hotel is a VERY short walk from the venue, making it the ONLY thing this place has going for it. It's moderately clean, but really very shabby. The carpet in our room should have been changed out years ago. No bedspreads or comforters on the beds, just a heavy blanket. The bedskirts were stained and dirty. The lighting was awful. The appliances worked, but are ancient. The wallpaper is old and rolling up in spots, and the mattresses were so uncomfortable. Overall, this place is dingy-looking, sub-standard and in desperate need of updating! With that fantastic location it could be a wonderful accomodation.

Not recommended for cute young ladies
My two girlfriends and I were in town for a sorority sister's wedding, and though we could afford a more expensive hotel, we assumed it would be okay to downgrade. We assumed wrong. The motel is all 1 floor, so our rooms were pretty much directly off of a very busy street in Charlotte-and not a very good area. Though very convenient (literally next door) to Ovens auditorium, all we needed was the confirmation of the people walking around outside at 4:00 in the afternoon for us to cancel our 2 night stay. The hotel and the area is not the place for three attractive young women to be taking cabs to at two in the morning after having been out all night drinking. Perhaps if we had been with a guy it would have been okay, but it didn't seem safe for us. I will say, the hotel staff person that helped me was very friendly.

Clean, convenient hotel
I selected because it was very close to the concert venue. The room was small, but surprisingly clean. Other than the TV remote not working, the room was exactly what we needed. It was probably 200 feet from the auditorium, making the egress quick and easy. The one downside was food. Not much in the area unless you want to gamble on small, local eateries, and there aren't too many of those.

It is amazingly close to Ovens Auditorium and Bojangles coliseum. If you are traveling to Charlotte for either locale, I'd stay here.

Econo Lodge Inn & Suites in Charlotte
I came to Charlotte for a convention at the Time Warner Cable Arena in downtown and stayed here. The location is easy to get to and from and the rate was great. They serve free continental breakfast and have free wifi which is why I chose this hotel.

The Epicenter in downtown is awesome with tons of restaurants, stores, and nightlife. We ate at MEZ and by the time we were done, it turned into a club!

ECONO LODGE - Charlotte, NC 28205
We went for business and pleasure. The hotel was nice. It had separate buildings which creates a safety issue for guests. We had to drive to the building that our room was in and it was some feet away from the main lobby. We REALLY enjoyed our time there other than that. We were impressed with the continental breakfast, which allowed us to make our own waffles not to mention the typical items you find. I'd recommend this hotel. :)

Mixed feelings
The hotel lobby was very nice. I specifically asked for a non-smoking room with a microwave and refrigerator and was given a smoking room which reaked of stale cigarette smoke. The bed linens were dirty. After contacting the front desk and reporting this unsatisfactory situation, they moved us to a much nicer room but did not offer any incentive for the inconvenience. I did read they were in process of renovating but apparently the SMOKING rooms have not been upgraded and they are not in the best condition. I would only stay here again if I could have a NON-SMOKING room as they were much nicer. I do realize there are people that smoke and they should have the same comfort level in a room as a non-smoker.
