Location Location Location!

I was in Charlotte to visit family and I couldn't have picked a better location. I was there for 3 nights. Since my family is scattered around the Charlotte and South Carolina area, it was centrally located. The Ballantyne area is very pristine and new. If you like to shop, there many malls, great stores, and really good restaurants in the area. Many within walking distance. The staff were super polite and accomodating from the moment I checked in with Hugh at the front desk. He recommended a perfect restaurant the first night. The hotel itself is very modern and clean. The design is very hip and the lobby is a great place to relax. My room was very airy and comfortable. High ceilings and no gaudy pictures on the walls to take away the roomy feel. The bed was super comfortable. Not too hard and not too soft and the sheets and linens were immaculate. A great desk area that has everything you need to recharge and hook up your phone and Ipad. It is one of the best hotels I've stayed in, and I will stay at the Ballantyne Aloft again in the future. When I travel to other cities, I will check to see if they have an Aloft, and that will be my hotel choice. Great, comfortable experience.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Great pizza/Itallian restaurant nearby named Libretto's. The chicken parm was great. Carolina mall which is a short drive was great just to walk around.

The "Affordable" W hotel!!

This was my first time staying in an aLoft hotel, and I was pleasantly satisfied! The contemporary design that the W hotels are known for showed true in this chain of hotels also. The bar, eating area and pool table in the lobby were a plus! The room was a nice size (not very big), but nicely designed and included free wireless that wasn't a hassle to set up like some hotels. The price was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend to anyone. I will probably be staying in an aLoft hotel if there is one where I'm traveling.

Great central location close to convention center, friendly staff, small but well appointed rooms. Very young vibe.

Out of the way but worth it

We stayed at this hotel to attend a Panthers game and although I was concerned about the distance away from downtown it turned out very well. The Aloft has always been a hip hotel but the Ballantyne location is one of only two that has gone completely green. The electricity is powered through solar energy or something so you have to charge up the room using your key. Weird yet awesome all in one. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The area itself has come up in years so although it is a little way outside of the city of Charlotte it was will worth it. Their is a shopping center on the same street with plenty of options for food and fun. Plus the mall is only a couple exits down. Close to the new light rail system although you would need to drive to park there. We did not eat food but did stop by the bar for drinks and socializing. Try the Alohoa Sunset (Vanilla Pineapple infused tequila) it's to die for.

New, Great Staff, Clean & Comfortable

The hotel is brand new and has a very attentive & pleasent staff. As a business traveler I was happy with the service, the workout facilities and the room - albeit a bit small. The electronics in the room worked well and I was able to be very productive - free WiFi was nice. The halls seemed a bit noisy when people walked down them or let the doors slam. Overall a very positive experience and I plan to return.
