Dining
- Il Palio Ristorante
- From the beginning, a key ingredient in the aspiration for a world-class luxury hotel was, of course, a world-class ristorante, as they are called in Italy. And, with Il Palio, it is safe to say that all hopes and dreams have been realized. Consistently awarded Four Diamonds by AAA and acclaimed by Conde Nast, Il Palio offers the finest Italian cuisine by Executive Chef Adam Rose and his staff, along with choices of some 400 wonderful wines, from Sommelierè Susannah Smith. The service is world-class, provided by an attentive, but unintrusive waitstaff. Surrounded by the rich colors and fabrics of an Italian villa with contemporary European touches, the atmosphere in Il Palio will take you to another place and time. It is more than a meal. It is more than an evening. It is an event.
- Il Palio Bar
- This is a rarefied atmosphere. This is where you come to relax, unwind. Its sophisticated without stuffy. Its relaxed, yet refined. This is where to meet after the day is done, or for pre-dinner drinks, or for any reason you choose. Because this is comfortable. Plush leather seating, polished brass and marble, soft lighting. Your choice of wine or champagne, of martinis, from the classic to the chocolate. Or just whatever suits your fancy. This is a great place to be. The Bar welcomes special wine tastings and other events throughout the year.

Very Nice!
This was a very nice place to stay. The staff were completely outstanding in every way and the room was very, very comfortable. The only thing I could say that might have been nicer were the headboards, and some of the decor seemed a little on the well-worn side. This did not impact in any way the comfort of the beds, which again were very, very comfortable. You may want to book a reservation for the hotel restaurant if you are planning on dining there, though, they seem to fill up very quickly. (There are other restaurants nearby, though.) The breakfast buffet was only OK, but it was convenient.

Hardly Siena
This hotel does not meet a 4 Star level. It is in dire need of upgrading. The staff seems inexperienced and lost. They were friendly and did their best to seem informed. The construction noise at 9 AM? Really? The hotel has faux Italian decor, as well as, faux Italian cuisine. Hotel not close enough to walk to UNC, as advertised in an advertisement. Would not return even with upgrades.

Disappointing
We drove from Ohio to see the gardens at Duke University. We found this hotel through [...]and thought it sounded interesting and with a 4 Diamond rest. rating. This is what we encountered: very friendly staff; old and outdated room furnishings (bedspreads (really) big dirty looking pillows with bedspread);college size fridge on floor in bathroom;no DVD; no hot water on third floor in evenings. Dinner (Monday evening apparently we had the B team in the kitchen). Both meals came out not even warm on cold plates- Manager apologized and did not charge for one meal but for NC only 4 diamond place, it should have never been served.

The Sara P Duke Gardens on the East Campus of Duke is well worth the trip. 55 acres of beautiful trees, flowers and just the overall setting.

A Jewel in Chapel Hill
The Siena Hotel is the most reasonable choice I can make giving a very short time before my travel. It is out of my budget for a single person's one night stay but it is unquestionably worth the money. My room is near the center of the hotel facing the front street. It is spacious with a king size bed. The staffs are friendly and helpful. I would recommended it to any spoiled New Yorker like myself.

Long walk from hotel
It has the quietness of being slightly away from the center of the town and UNC campus. It is very close to Battle Park, a hiking park that connects to the UNC campus.
