The bellman very capably showed us all the fine points of the room, referencing the extras that he could bring us. As he concluded, he noticed a nice bowl of grapes on a side table, and a packet of fine goat cheese in the refrigerator, neither of which he expected in the room. We could all only conclude that they had been left by housekeeping. Our daughter couldn't resist mentioning Goldilocks. The rest of the room was impeccable. Management decided to comp us a couple of drinks in their bar to make up for this surprise. We did not feel this was necessary. The walk-in shower & rest of the bathroom were very attractive & functional. The bed featured goose down pillows which could be replaced if we were allergic. The complimentary breakfast next morning was first class, and was enjoyed by lots of happy-looking guests including children. The hotel features a central atrium which would have been very pleasant had we been able to stay longer. The staff were very professional, attentive & quick to remedy any short-coming. Night LifeTip:By all means, be sure not to miss Sugarland ("We won't let you down, or hold you up, but we will dessert you.") for scrumptious cup cakes, other baked goods, Italian ice cream, and lots of truly imaginative layer cakes for every occasion.Distance:Short Walk Yes! I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Pretty Darn Good
Great service and location. Room was nice if a little small. Not much closet space. The water pressure could be better. But all those things are small and overall a great weekend at the Franklin.

Chapel Hill Franklin
I loved the location and having easy parking in Chapel Hill's busiest part of town. It is really easy to get to Carrboro from here as well. The in room office, turn down service, internet, and tv are all easily enjoyed.

A must for UNC parents
The Franklin was a real find! It is a tiny jewel of a hotel right in downtown Chapel Hill. We stayed here during the orientation for admitted students to UNC...and it could not have worked out better. Being so close to the campus offered us the opportunity to stroll through at any time of the day or night, and gave us the chance to frequent the various college hot spots on the main strip... We loved the accommodations...from the plush linens to the LCD screen...from the on-site, under-hotel parking to the balconied rooms. Great little hotel!
