Good value in Chapel Hill
There's nothing extraordinary about the Fordham Blvd Hampton, but it's a good value for the location. Downtown Chapel Hill, the UNC campus, and I-40 are easy to reach. Shuttles to UNC football and basketball games are close by.

Shopping tip:
Short drive from hotel
Give yourself at least a few hours to explore A Southern Season, just a short drive down 15-501 at University Mall. The selection of gourmet foods, china, kitchenware, wine, and more is phenomenal.

A roof over your head
A roof over your head and that's about it. The photos on the website are deceiving. This is nothing more than a motor lodge with no capacity to handle business travelers. There is no business center - only two computers stuck next to a pillar in the breakfast area, one of which has no Microsoft applications. If the other computer is occupied by a web surfer, you're screwed. The fitness center is not as nice as the photo looks. It's basically a treadmill stuck in a utility closet. When I travel again to Chapel Hill, I will try to stay at the Sheraton nearby. It looks better and is not that much more expensive.

It a little expensive
It is relatively clean and comfortable, but the price is higher than I expected. I guess one of the reason is that the hotel is close to universites.

Stayed overnight for an early morning doctors visit. Close and convenient to UNC Hospitals. Motel staff cooked and shared great chocolate chip cookies.

great location for unc visiters
needed a decent place to stay while in town for a unc ballgame. weve always loved hampton inn. but this one was the real economy version of our favorite hotel. it served its purpose, a nice bed, relatively clean. an oddity...a few times there was a brief septic tank smell when toilet flushed. wall vent in bathroom was really furry and in need of cleaning. i'm funny about that kind of thing. no mini fridge or microwave in room. breakfast was good. overall good enough.

My Stay
Motel was a little challenging to find. Not very visible. The room was very nice, clean looking and comfortable. They put me in a handicaped room. Not sure if there was a message there. The closet was closer to the ground than normal. A couple of dead bugs lying around.

Great location and wonderful stay
We stayed 4 nights, the location was great. My husband went back and forth to UNC and the hotel was very convenient. I can't say enough about the bed and pillows. They are absolutely wonderful. They had a really good breakfast with lots to choose from.

Short walk from hotel
There is a nice sports bar down the street called Baileys, about a seven minute walk. There is no sidewalk or overstreet lamps so it is a little more dangerous at night but the road does not have much traffic.

not so bad not so great
Room was decent. Sad to see there was no fridge in the room. I found a lump of mlod under my bed. I checked in a second room for an extra last min night. When I got to the room it was uncleaned. I let hosuekeeping know and they wrote my room number down. About 6 hrs later when I came back to my room it was still uncleaned. The lady at the front deck was only offering me clean towels and sheets at first. I ended up getting a free upgrade to a king size bed. There the only outlet I could access in the "bed" area would not hold anything( my cell charger fell right out of the wall) there was a ziplock bag on the floor and the ac would not stay on. By this time I was to tired from the day and had to leave early in am. I wont be staying at this hotel again.

Perfect Location
We were there for the UNC volleyball tournament. The hotel was at a perfect location. It was close to both major streets that take you to campus and close to major shopping centers and eateries. Although it was close to these major hot spots, it was still very quite. If ever back in Chapel Hill, I will definitely stay at this hotel. The front desk receptionist was one of the friendliest people I have ever encountered at a hotel. This was truly a great experience.
