Smelled Musty

Room smelled musty, hard bed, comforter not clean. Rusty water, water that came out was brown. No shampoo, cond.loti,no coffee maker, TV had broken VHS lid. and green light blinked all night long. Needless to say we didn't sleep good all night. We want be back. The only good thing was it was walking distance.

Why has the Red Carpet Inn not improved?

I read all of the poor reviews, but decided to take a chance anyway. My mistake. I went in with low expectations and they were met. I understand outdated decor, but not lack of cleanliness. The front desk staff is friendly, but they do not control the maintenance or cleanliness of the hotel. This should never be more than a $29.95/night experience. Keep your shoes on, don't expect clean surfaces and expect a poor television. There was no shower head and the water ran out before my shower was complete. VERY low water pressure. At least there were phones in the room.

Great value for location

Although this is an older hotel, it is endearing. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was clean and inviting. The location and value are great. It is close to all major attractions. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very motorcycle friendly.

I want to go home!

Room was dirty, toilet leaked whenver it was flushed, all over the bathroom floor. The night we were there there was a horrible thunderstorm and our car got flooded in the parking lot, 4 inches of standing water in the car floorboard, carpet in car will have to be replaced, oh, and did I mention there was no water pressure in sinks or in shower ? You couldn't pay me to go anywhere near that place again!

In two words--bed bugs

Went to watch an ASU football game. Checked in, changed clothes, went to the game, out to dinner, and back to the hotel at 10pm. Found a bed bug as I was getting ready for bed. Got dressed again, demanded a refund, and fled in the middle of the night. No rooms left in Boone. Drove to Lenoir-30 miles away and stayed the night. I will never stay at a Red Carpet again!!

Very good location, very good price

Older motel but all I needed was a bed, shower, clean sheets and good location, and for $67.00 that is what I got. Google gave me the wrong location. but a wreaker driver showed me the right way. Turn left not right like Google maps said. Great value for the money. The next cheaper motal was twenty milesaway and twenty dollars more. Will use it again next time, and they have four laned 421 now and are still working on it.

Eww mold.

i'm not one to have a problem with places in boone, i lived there for four years: i know nothing is renovated. But i at least expect things to be clean-ISH, right? The bathroom had mold on the wall above the shower. Not a big deal... I don't touch that regularly. But when there's mold (of the black variety) on the curtain, inside the curtain rings, on the curtain rod (didn't think that was possible), and the replacment toilet paper, i have to draw the line. That's right. Unidentified black side on the toilet paper. Under the wrapping. Maybe if they had a ventilation system i wouldn't be such a problem, buuut... they don't.

For the boone experience AND good food: Macado's, Murphy's, The Parthenon, Black Cat's, (mellow mushroom is gone now but it was amazing), Our Daily Bread, Jimmy Johns (the one on king street), Capone's, For really yum food: Dos Amigos or Los Arquos (sp?), Mr. Original's (greek), China Buffet on 321,

Disgusting hotel, beautiful town

We chose this hotel because it was inexpensive; we have stayed at other inexpensive hotels in the past and have been very pleased. This place was horrible. The lobby smelled musty - should have gone with the first impression and left. The room also smelled musty and damp; the carpet was torn in two places. Nothing looked or felt quite clean in the room and there was mildew on a lot of the tiled area and in most of the grout. When my white pants touched the floor they got stained and I still haven't been able to get them clean. They advertised on the website that they have VCR's - they had movies available but the VCR didn't work and they didn't care. They also advertised having a pool - that would have been nice on a warm day in June, but they chose not to fill it this year. Like most hotels they had an ironing board and iron in the room, but the iron leaked like a waterfall and never got hot. Housekeeping didn't clean the coffee pot or filter basket even though they replaced the coffee that we used. The hair dryer is also unsafe because it no longer has that cover thing over the suction end that keeps hair from getting sucked in to the heating elements. If you have children, please don't let them near the playground - it looks very unsafe. We did something that we have never done before - when asked by arriving guests if we would recommend they stay there, we suggested that they look elsewhere. We brought all of these comments and complaints to the attention of the staff when we checked out. A person that I believe to be the manager or owner was in there with an employee when we came in to do so, but quietly excused herself. The staff member listened politely and apologized but was clearly not empowered to do anything about it. Just to be clear, the town and surrounding area are beautiful, but we will never stay at this hotel again and strongly recommend against anyone else staying there either.

Cold shower, anyone???

My husband and I went for daughters graduation. I was expecting a clean room, which I got. I wanted a nice warm shower at the end of the day, but surprise...! The water in the sink was nice and warm, but the shower was enough to make you want to shower when you got home! I advised the office of this, and the lady at the desk just said that she didn't receive any warning that is supposed to pop up. Well, I will not go back there again.. Very disappointing!
