Whispering Pines Motel

At checkin, was told that my room had been changed to a smoking room. When I pointed out that the motel was not full and that I had reserved a non-smoking, the owner agreed that he had rooms, but there was a $20 CASH charge over the [...] charge for the room. Also only gave us one towel for two people.

I was expecting a non-smoking room with air conditioning and a motel with a pool (as stated even on the signs on I-40). The motel has apparently never had a pool or any non-smoking rooms. Our room smelled like the inside of a smokehouse except not as pleasant. The A/C did not work, and no other rooms were available the first night. They moved us to a slightly larger room the second night, with a working A/C, but the bed was saturated with that smoke smell. As non-smokers, we found it particularly disgusting. Hidden by those whispering pines is a railroad track, which produced about a 5 on the Richter scale periodically. This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in some real dumps. How it got a 3-star rating I will never know. It doesn't deserve even one star.

The outside of the hotel was not very nice so I was immediatley thinking... what are the rooms like in here. The rooms, much to my suprise, were very clean; however, the owner at the front desk was very rude. He was first hateful and angry with me because he had lost so much money because I booked my reservation with Orbitz. He fussed at me for some time due to this fact. I also witness him being mean to the couple in front of me and they had not even used the orbitz company to book their reservation.

Yes it was missing a pool and the ac didnt work, all they could offer us was a smoking room, no thanks.2nd to the worst motel i ever stayed at. no ice machine, the people couldnt speak very good english, hard to communiate.
