Wonderful romantic weekend

We had a wonderful time at the Grove Park and will be coming back. This was our first trip to the Grove Park Inn, and enjoyed the room, restaurants, grounds, and spa. Outstanding!

Great Historic Hotel

Would recommend Mon, Mar 2, 2015
A truly great location, with some beautiful views, particularly at sunset. The hotel lobby has the huge old fireplaces and the place is steeped in history. You feel like a high flying member of the guilded age. The room we stayed in wasn't great, but we got the cheapest we could find. The restaurants on site are excellent, but downtown is a short drive.

Valentine's getaway

Would recommend Tue, Feb 17, 2015
Everything was wonderful except for the noise we had to endure due to the sanding of doors above us during our stay. The restaurants on the premises do not have enough variety and are overpriced. The Blue Ridge Restaurant had a wonderful breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and accommodating! The concierge could have been more cheerful.

Historic retreat

Would recommend Mon, Jan 12, 2015
A visit to Grove Park Inn not only a great getaway, but a trip back in time. The decor/archtecture has been maintained consistent with the original design, yet with all the modern comforts one could want. We had a mountain view room, definitely worth the increased fee. Both Vue 1913 and Edison's provided fabulous food, with service to match. My wife and I always love getting to Asheville for this grand old inn.

A dream stay at an historic inn

Would recommend Wed, Oct 29, 2014
We had been dying to stay at the Grove Park and were so excited to get the opportunity to during the busy fall season. We loved having cocktails on the Sunset Patio and dinner at the new Vue 1913 restaurant. Everyone was so hospitable and courteous to us and we had a fabulous time. We would love to go back.

Attractions

Ask for a room in the historic part of the inn. You get a great experience riding the elevators that are hidden to the side of the fireplaces!

Nice but not that nice for the price

Would not recommend Wed, Oct 22, 2014
Definitely not of the caliber to charge $300-$400 / night. Additional charges for everything. A $25/ night resort fee that covers pool access, internet, newspaper, in-room coffee service and lobby refreshments (items that I've normally gotten at other hotels and resorts included in the room charge). Lobby refreshments were water and apples. If it's not optional, why not just add it to the nightly room charge instead of trying to make the room charge look less? Another $15 / night parking fee (or $22/night for valet parking) Beds were not comfortable and pillows were horrible. We did ask for additional pillows which were delivered to the room promptly and slightly better. Great hall (lobby) is very nice with large stone fireplaces, bar and plenty of seating area to relax, read, and just enjoy the view. View is of mountains is nice but not spectacular. We ate lunch in the Edison and it was about $60 for a salad, tea, two beers and nachos. Breakfast buffet for 2 was $59.22 ($23 each plus tip), but very good. Spa was way overpriced so we went offsite to local spa for about 1/3 the cost. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bottom line, I've stayed at nicer bed&breakfast places, been more comfortable, hot tub, and least as good breakfast with better views and spent a lot less money and I even booked the GPI through Obitz and got one of the better rates. Grand total 3 nights with all meals and misc expenses at GPI = $1,100. Not counting eating out, which we mostly did. OK for one time experience but probably won't do again.
