Over night stay

For a motel 6 I was surprised. They had plenty of help and the room was clean and nice. It is very well taken care of and ranks equil to a 3 star motel.

Two-Night Escapades

Made reservations a few days in advance. I got there late, in the pouring rain, after visiting another hotel due to idiocy. Came in, felt welcomed. Told to wait 20 minutes for room service to clean up an available room after a quick pay. No biggie. Pool was right across from the office but my room was almost as far away as it could get. Didn't have time to use it anyways, but it looked nice and well maintained. Seemed like only one parking spot per room, which seemed kind of silly to me, but I did reserve a one bed room. No issues came up with the second vehicle. Upon entering the room, there was a funk. It was a smoking room, not that I specified. After awhile it either dissipated or I got used to it and it became more of a grandma's house or pungent floral odor. The air conditioning unit was on full blast on cold, which I appreciated. But it made a lot of noise. Putting it on the lower setting made less racket but didn't seem to make a difference otherwise. The curtain was able to block any views from in or out, only glowing around the circumference from the lighted walkways. The main door was a little concerning. It closed and locked but a left a lot of visibility in the frame. Didn't look very secure and the rare outside noise from other guests was fairly audible. Maybe the phone was janky or they took out the rest of the buttons because they caused confusion. Ashtray was next to it. Neither were used. TV was small but the available channels were decent. Watched a lot of Discovery while waiting for my guest to arrive. Bathroom was unsettling at first. Black streaks on the large mirror looked like filth at first, but seemed to be some kind of damage. Possibly the silvering coming off the back. Not sure if mistaken or if bath towels were more like large hand cloths. No complimentary shampoo or conditioner. Two bars of soap though. Very adequately clean, which was relieving after the black scrape scare. Worst part for me was not having an adequate place to hang my toiletry bag in the bathroom. The hook is square behind the door and caused it not to open all the way, which was not comfortable in the cramped space. No storage under the sink. Only other option was the towel rack which was too close to the toilet on one side for use or sacrificing the towel next to the shower. Of course, I'm a man, so I knew the sink area was off-limits with a woman staying with me. So there's that. Entertainment/writing table/dresser was okay. Lots of place to put things. Three drawers on the left, two cubbyholes on the right. Drawers didn't open as much as I'd like and the bottom one was wonky. Chair was kind of in the way of the path from the entrance to the bathroom so I joined it with the dining table or whatever you'd want to call it. Bed was nice and clean, generically comfortable. Think I remember one sheet, a blanket-like sheet, and a comforter. I like a freezing cold room with a warm bed and was pleased. There was an open closet with a few decent hangers and a storage rack above. Large area in front and near the bathroom, completely bare, good place for luggage and such. Didn't see where the ice machine was and didn't ask. I'm rather anti-social and hate interacting with strangers. Room service arrived both days at noon. Overall, I was completely satisfied with my stay. Couple minor issues but can't really complain due to the price. With a quick browse, it seemed like the cheapest place in the area by a large margin. Clean and friendly, definite value.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

If you go to the Zaxby's a block or two down the road, be wary of the slope when pulling in/out. Scraped body on a stock sedan even at an angle.

Motel 6 lets this plsce use their name??

We were surprised this motel carries ANY chain's name, as it is literally falling apart and seems to be waiting for demolition at any time. The floor boards were soft/rotten, the bathroom floor cracked and soft to the touch, and there was a tree growing from the roof. The motel should receive 0 stars, "1" is an overstatement. Amenities on this motel should get a 0 or lower because it did not even include a bar of soap. Based on the rest of the condition of the room and hotel I felt obligated to use shower shoes. For so many reasons, I cannot express strongly enough that this location is not worth even half of the $57 a night. You are paying for 4 walls, 2 hard beds, and a floor and roof that you're constantly hoping aren't going to fall in. I have stayed in numerous camp sites with better facilities than offered here. We of course did no know any of this until after paying for the room. We selected the motel because it accepted dogs. I would have been better off sleeping in the car with my dog. The staff we interacted with were friendly, and this is situated well for us, immediately off the Blue Ridge Parkway, but it would have been more than worth it to spend the little bit of extra money for the Quality or Sleep inn across the street. I strongly recommend this motel not be made available on public booking sites.

OK for price

Very cheap and convenient to the city. Room was plain and smelled damp. Toilet flushed randomly throughout the night. Walls are paper thin and you could hear the neighbors entire conversation. Lots of flies in the room.

Quick stop

Basic Motel 6 - Inexpensive room no thrills. All rooms first floor. Close to Highway easy on and off. Have stayed here before. Non smoking room but did have cigarette or coverup odor. Just needed place to sleep. Watched some NCAA basketball since it was tournament time. I do not need much when I am by myself.

The only compliment I can give is the shower head was nice... but other than that it was a really grimy place to have to sleep.
