not much for the money
The hotel was old and in need of updating. I could have over looked this but there were some issues: 1- the washcloths had stains on them and holes in them 2- Someone had dropped an iron on the floor and burnt the carpet 3- The shower was so small that the shower curtain stuck to your body 4- your breakfast was served on paper plates and there were signs asking you to bus your own table to keep costs down 5- The power button on the TV was pushed in and you had to stick you entire finger in to shut it off. I would have used the remote but the batteries were dead. This was ok for one night and had I been staying longer I would have complained to the staff and left and gone elsewhere.

Absolutely the worst place that we have ever stayed!!!!!!
The desk clerk said that some rooms were out of range. When we turned the heat on, the fan blew out large quantities of moldy dust and dirt, indicating that it had not been cleaned in a long time. We immediately developed difficulties breathing and started coughing and choking. We immediately turned it off and piled on the blankets to keep warm. When we awoke the next morning our nasal passages and throats were loaded with the black filth. When I complained to the front desk, I told them that this is the sort of thing that causes Legonaires Disease. The only decent thing about this place was the continental breakfast. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
It is adjacent to a large mall that is within walking distance or a very short drive. We enjoyed a good dinner with good service at Applebies just down the street.

didn't like it
The air conditioner smelled like dead fish. The location was noisy and not where I thought we would be located. We could not walk to downtown Ashville.

Avoid if you can help it...
The rooms are very old. The bed was the worst hotel bed we have ever slept on. When we sat on the bed it bottomed out to the box spring. The bathroom was small and very old. The door barely made it past the door jamb when being closed. There was someone's old football jersey still hanging on the backside of the bathroom door. On the flipside, the breakfast is good! However, I would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel in need of repairs
This hotel needs repairs, staff training and some reality check. Avoid if you can. Things specifically wrong with our trip: 1. a/c was noisy, when we turned our off, the next door one was working hard to keep us up. 2. shower was not working- half of water would drain from faucet even when pulled. 3. if you are at 6 feet watch out for ceiling of bathroom- may be it was just our room 4. electrical outlets were not working- it took going under the table, fixing some cables before tv worked.- and I had to do it myself. 5. no service staff until 9. You need towels, toileteries or other things, go to the counter and help your self. 6. Wait...they dont have lotion at the desk...so wait until 9 7. Breakfast is bland- 8. Save yourself...book other hotel. At the price of 80 bucks I paid, I am sure I would have found others.

not the best experience
The room was musty, the heater made an annoying buzzing noise constantly, the refrigerator also made a noise until we unplugged it, the remote for the television did not work and the breakfast although plentiful the hot items were rather cold and the biscuits could have given rocks a run for their money and when I complained about the heater, remote, hair in the bathtub, and poor quality of food on breakfast i was treated like an unhappy tourist. worst part was that I actually worked at this very hotel 10 years ago and then it was a holiday inn and now I can see why they lost their status.

V ERY DISAPPOINTED requesting refund
Went to the Biltmore Estate Thought we had purchased a 3 star hotel it was more like a 1 star. Have traveled numerous times and haven't stayed in a hotel like this. We are questioning how your rating system works. We are requesting a refund.

Sorry Visitor
Not Recommended Location
We reserved a non-smoking room, but were given a smoking room. One of the pillows had dirt on it and the door to the bathroom did not close. This is definitely not a 21/2 star location.

Absolute minimum
Starting with t he breakfast ...nothing I could eat as the food was salty, fat, cheap and not tasty. The rug in he room should be a science project as it was so rotten. The coffee maker made one cup in a paper cup, blah. The bed was so uncomfortable I needed to massage out the kinks. The pool was closed for painting and the whole place was a waste of real estate. Never again.
