Week-long trip exploring Montana

The Kandahar Lodge exceeded my expectations. The photos did not do the Lodge justice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the rooms sizable, and very comfortable. Having a full bar was nice and the lobby was very cozy with a fire burning every night. The lodge only has about 50 rooms and was full to capacity when we were there, but it never felt crowded. There is an award-winning restaurant in the Lodge as well. The only complaint (and it is minor) that I might have is, for the price, it would be nice to have a hot breakfast included instead of an average continental breakfast. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay, and next time I'm back, this is where I'll stay.

Nice Quiet Long Weekend for Two

We had an excellent stay. Only improvement would be to have the Hot Tub warmer and the steam room needs to be serviced; the steam has a mildew smell, hence we had to leave and could not enjoy either of these amenities. This aside the hotel was quiet and we enjoyed the relaxation we were seeking. We would stay again.

Kandahar Lodge in Whitefish Montana

In the mountains, beautiful location, room with down comforter, and great mattresses. Well decorated and very comfortable. We felt right at home. Their main great room contained a beautiful fireplace that had a fire going in the evenings, and lots of places for people to congretate. The people working there were very friendly and helpful, and made the stay even more eventful. Good continental breakfast with fresh fruit and yogurt. Would stay here again and again. Much better than any of the lodges at Glacier Park, where we stayed after, at a better price. Staying at Glacier Park was a let down after spending time at Kandahar Lodge.

Cosy and Comfortable

My wife and I had a very pleasant four day stay at Kandahar Lodge. Principally in the area to visit Glacier National Park, we found the Lodge a great base in terms of it's location (an easy drive to the West entrance), and a lovely spot to come back to after day's arduous hiking. The snug bar was a great place to grab a drink and something simple to eat, and the fireplace and lounge were very inviting to just kick back and chill out in. The lodge is not a fancy or pretentious place, but is comfortable and welcoming, whilst cafe Kandahar really is a must for at least one dinner (stunning food).

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Cowgirl Coffee on the road back into Whitefish is a great drive through coffee spot for a "roadie" to take on your drive to Glacier; and the Buffalo Cafe is a sensational place for big breakfasts or lunches at a very reasonable price (in town).

Great lodge, would recommend

We stayed in one of the "studio" rooms. We were very happy with the room and the lodge overall. Pros: Had a full kitchenette, including mini-fridge, microwave, conventional oven, large sink, table for four, and cupboards and drawers with cookware, serving ware, and utensils. We liked that the bathroom sink was located outside the bathroom. There was a window we could open. The free wifi was nice, and the free breakfast had enough good items to supplement our own breakfast meals, that we felt happy. The lodge was beautiful and had lots of beautiful flowers around, and free parking. The room had a sleeper sofa bed and an entertainment center that we didn't use. Cons: The "queen size" bed seemed more like a double. The bed wasn't fully made except every other day; on the odd days, they just flattened the sheets, sort of a "busy bachelor style" of making a bed. And the cleaning staff kept turning the temperature way down, so that when we returned in the evenings, it was freezing (during August). The shower head was a little wimpy, didn't give a good, even flow. Not a big deal, but the road up the mountain is very winding with several tight curves and 10-25 mph zones. Also it is about 45 minutes from the entrance to Glacier National Park.

Great family vacation

Hotel was a nice mountain bungalo, tucked at the base of Big Mountain in Whitefish. Cute area, friendly staff, rooms were fine, I would definitely recommend and return to stay.
