Yellowstone in late fall

Just before the roads in the park close for the winter is a great time to visit the park. The motel was centrally located and quiet due to the small number of guests. Nice staff and the breakfast was good. Late fall caution: Almost all of West Yellowstone was closed for the season so only a few places to eat were open.

Great location!

We loved just about everything at this hotel. It is about a mile drive to Yellowstone's West entrance. Within walking distance (5-10 minutes) are shops, grocery stores, and fast food (McDs, Dairy Queen). The free breakfast buffet was great! (Danish, bagels, toast, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, milk, juices, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, oatmeal) The staff was wonderful. The only reason I gave room comfort 4 stars was because it is an older hotel so it can be noisy when people walk past your door and the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors. I gave the value 4 stars because we were there off peak and still paid more than $100/night. All in all, we would stay here again. If you are not a fan of taxidermy, this is not the hotel for you. We loved the hardwood everywhere. If you are a fan of log cabins, this is the hotel for you!

Excellent, would stay here again!

This was an excellent hotel! The location was wonderful, just about a mile from the West Yellowstone entrance. There were grocery stores and several restaurants (including fast food) within walking distance. Also within a mile or so was the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. The continental breakfast was terrific. Bananas, yogurt, waffles, toast, bagels, patries, milk, juices, oatmeal, cold cereal, coffee, tea, hot cocoa all included in the cost of the hotel room. Lots of natural wood making up the floors and walls. However, if taxidermy animals aren't your thing, this would not be the hotel for you. I would have given the room comfort 5 stars, but the walls are a little thin so you can hear your neighbors. I would also have given the value 5 stars except that we paid over $100/night off season and the hotel was fairly empty. Otherwise, a great hotel with a great location and we will stay here again!

A nice hotel

Easy access to the Yellow stone national park as well as the main street in West Yellowstone town. You may think that a room is a bit smaller and older than you expected, which was acceptable to me, but the most impressive thing for me is that they got a 'door closer' installed, that enables your room door to close automatically and 'slowly'. This helped me a lot to have a good sleep without getting disturbed by your neighbors slaming a door every time they come back or go out late night or early morning, which was always driving me nuts in other hotels. I travel a lot, but this is the first time I saw it in a hotel!

Great service

The entire town was small and looked run down a bit, and the hotel was pretty average in terms of a nice bed, clean service etc. The customer service was superb. Every morning a man talked with us at breakfast and cleaned up and brightened our day. The service desk was very helpful and it turned out to be a great place to stay.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Everything is within walking distance in town. Great shops and a few good places to eat. Plenty of grocery stores in case you forgot anything or needed supplies as you head into Yellowstone.

Yellowstone Rox

The hotel is a good stay in West Yellowstone. Wished we had a longer time to spend at Yellowstone. Keep it in mind wifi connectivity is poor and you will not be able to connect to internet from your room. You have to use a very small and old computer at the lobby. There is a lot of room for improvement but overall, we would still rate this hotel as good considering the location, price and the pleasant demeanor of staff.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Do not go to the nearby McDonalds, management is very dishonest. They screwed up the order and then refused to admit. Also they don't have stock, couldn't give us items from their menu.

OK Rooms and Location

Make sure you have a room to the back, not the main streets. Smokers section of Bar was directly underneath our room. Noisy and smelly at night.
