The Red Lion Inn served its purpose very well for our first trip to Missoula Montana. Close to town center we were able to walk to the small shops and university. Its just a short drive from the airport.
The room was practical with microwave,
fridge, coffee maker. The Flatscreen TV had a good channel selection. The bathroom could have been better maintained and the rooms heater/air-conditioner fan was a little noisy. The room's convenient USB charging station was a plus. The included breakfast and 24hr coffee is an added value.
The staff was very friendly and professional.
Everything was great except that they were replacing air conditioners---at the end of July. Hot as blazes, but all there was for cooling was an undersized, temporary in-room unit. Barely tolerable. They could have chosen a better time to swap air
On the "PLUS" side, at least they __were__ swapping air conditioners, and simultaneously upgrading room TV sets. I will stay here again the next time I visit Missoula. The AC will be good and so will the TV!
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Drive to Blodgett Canyon and take a day-hike. Beautiful scenery, easy trail. Near Hamilton, MT. It has been referred to as "the Bitterroots' version of Yosemite." You can hike the canyon, if you prefer an easy trail, or go for the Overlook if you feel up to a slightly more strenuous jaunt. Either way, the views will be worth the effort.
The hotel is over priced and average. Red Lion corporation used to be four and five star, not any more. We recently stayed at the Red Lion at the Park in Spokane, Washington and this stay was at the Red Lion in Missoula, Montana. We are going to
avoid Red Lion. We fee we can get just as nice a room and service for less money at other hotels.
Oh, certainly, if you were so disposed, you could find faults. But this was a great deal. The room was clean, the staff very friendly, the bed uber comfy. The breakfast was even edible! (Well, OK, you had to be selective, but not bad
I'd definitely return if the occasion arises (and the price is as good).
Went on a cross country road trip and utilized a mobile app for the motel/"hotel" stays. The Red Lion was by far the best stay throughout the trip. It was the cheapest price, along with the fact that we were able to use an applicable discount with
it. The room was as clean, roomy and comfortable as a Marriott Hotel. The complementary breakfast was decent; and the lobby area was cozy when dining. The only critique my company had was the out-dated television. But I did not book the room to watch tv, so it doesn't really matter to me!

The Inn itself saved us money with allowing us to utilize our mobile app discount along with how cheap it already was. I wouldn't be surprised if prices went up the next time I stay there... it's a deal that is too good to be true.
