cheap hotel
Hallways stink, i think from a washer and dryer up stairs. King size bed was really nice. No pool or hot tub sucks. Cars are kind of loud. Breakfast lady wont let u in unless u got your pass. Cold rooms when i got there. Americas bests value for sure. I guess I'm looking a Cadillac for a volts wagon price.

Not Bad Considering
This hotel is not bad considering the price factor. It was very clean and comfortable. Best thing is it's close to all the downtown nightlife and restaurants, so no driving !!!

Comfortable room but that's all
Hotel room was pretty good and comfortable. Bathroom clean. A/C working but not great. The few electrical plugs in the room were worn out and need replacing but we managed to use them for re-charging stuff. In the morning (6:30am), we were awoken by the sound of loud voices outside and motorcycles revving their engines (a large group of motorcyclists had stayed there as well and were heading out).

Basic hotel, close to town
Easy check in. There is nothing fancy about the Mountain Valley Inn, but the folks there were very friendly, the room was clean and the daily breakfast was a nice bonus. The hotel is just on the edge of the downtown area. It is an easy 4 block walk to many restaurants and bars and the Clark River. I would definitely stay here again if I ever found myself in Missoula.

Pretty good
Local place, clean, friendly. Checked in around midnight, they waived the pet fee, got a good night's sleep. Second night, same story. By the parking lot, seems popular with the Harley crowd, but was not noisy. The dog was no problem.

Good value for your money
I enjoyed my stay at Mountain Valley Inn. I usually stay only at budget type hotels, and I think this hotel was a good value for my money. I was in Missoula to visit a fiend from college who lives in the downtown area, and the location of this hotel was great for me to be able to walk to every place we wanted to go. If you are planning on spending time along the river and in the downtown area, it is really hard to beat this location. Also great if you are planning on hitting the bars since you don't have to drive. The covered parking was a bonus, and although it did not snow while I was there, I know how nice it is to have when a good storm comes up in Missoula. The parking area is very well lit,and the entrance to the building and to the rooms is a badge-in system for security. The staff, both check-in and check-out, were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, a little older on the fixtures, carpet, etc., but clean and the bed was pretty decent. I could have used bigger pillows with a little more neck support, but I really didn't have any issues sleeping. The free wi-fi was great too, and I had no troubles accessing it from my room. I pretty much use my room for sleeping only, and if you stay here you should not expect it to be resort quality, but it is clean and comfy. I did not eat the continental breakfast and can give no comments on it, so that is why I am ranking the "dining options" low. The bathroom was spacious and there was a nice sitting area in the shower/tub if you need it, but the shower head was pretty low for me (5'11") and was at neck level, so I had to stoop a little. Really not a problem though and the overall experience was good. If you want a good budget hotel that is clean and has some nice extras like the Wi-Fi and close location to the downtown, this is the place to go. I'll be staying there again the next time I travel to Missoula.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Expect to pay a lot of money ($40 each for 3 of us), but the tasting menu at The Silk Road is very good and a nice range of dishes to try. Again, you will pay a lot for each dish and they are not large portions, but the benefit is that you get to taste a lot of flavorful and interesting dishes. This is across the river on Higgins and pretty chilly to walk across the bridge in the winter, so you may want to drive. Not a problem in the spring through fall. They have tasty beer, too.
