Microtel Inn in Tupelo was filthy.

The smell of mold and mildew over powered the smell of stale cigarette smoke that was also present. The room had one dim light, so as not to show the grim ground into the carpet. No lamps on the bedside table. You have to carry your own bags up stairs, as there is no elevator, nor a bellman My family had two rooms in the same condition. We all looked at the rooms and then at each other and said a simultaneous NO WE CAN'T STAY HERE> so off we went to find a decent hotel. The desk clerk stated the rooms were fine, so apparently these conditions are the norm for this hotel. NEVER AGAIN FOR ME

Economy Hotel

The Microtel was smaller than other Microtel hotels we have stayed at in the past. It was not very clean. The phone was missing the cover to tell which buttons to push. The clock was dirty. The carpet was dirty and the wall had some marks on it.

Not My Kind Of Hotel

The towels were so thin my hair was still dripping wet 15 minutes later and it took me almost 1/2 hour to dry my hair. It is only shoulder length. We had to go to the local Wal Mart for a coffee maker and towels. The coffee at the hotel was terrible. It was like water and the breakfast was no better. There was hardly any fruit and Fruit Loops for cereal. There was no variety whatsoever. The maid never vacuumed our carpet the entire time we were there. There was a large footprint on the cover to the toilet that was never cleaned. Our coffee maker was not cleaned. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. You could not get in the building after midnight either.

Good location

This hotel is located at a major cross intersection. This means most attractions were a very short drive. There were a variety of restaurants nearby. The hotel had easy access and was comfortable & clean. All things considered it was a good value.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

We love the waffle house for breakfast. However, there are a variety of eating places both in tastes and budget. There were well known chains and locally owned offering steaks, seafood, Italian and so forth. Something to suit everyones taste.
