A friendly place with lots of historic character
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Chester. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. The hotel's location is great for walking to the several places to dine and shop in dowtown Starkville, and is an easy drive to the Mississippi State campus.

Visiting Relatives
Cute, but not perfect
We stayed in Hotel Chester while visiting family at MSU. We stayed for two nights. The hotel is close to a cute downtown area and was something a little different from all of the chain hotels in Starkville. We did have one breakfast at the hotel which was good but simple (eggs, toast, etc.). The hotel was nicely decorated and clean and almost everyone we spoke to was very friendly. The hotel has recently had a small issue with finding Legionnaire's disease bacteria but we were assured that wouldn't affect our stay. The main downside for us is that the plumbing was under par (slow, backed-up toilet). All in all it was a nice place to stay. It's not a luxury hotel by any means but it's cute and a good choice if you want somewhere with a little more character than a chain hotel.

Quaint, Historical and Affordable
Very quaint little hotel for better price than the big chains in town. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. Nice view of downtown.

Nice Stay for a Great Price
Okay, so it wasn't at the same level as some fancy boutique hotels in larger cities but the rooms were clean and about as updated as they could get, the staff was pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was limited but so much better than a simple continental fare. The rooms were comfortable, clean and we very much enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this hotel without apprehension.

Historic just means OLD
The first room described as with smoking Balcony was filthy! Not from just the night before, but from long term indifference! Second room at my insistence was OK. Don't need to go back!

Friendliest Hotel in Mississippi right in downtown Starkville
The Hotel Chester was a destination for me during a stressful time, the funeral of a friend. The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. Any snags were quickly dealt with by the efficient front desk. The two restauraunts in the hotel were both a nice dining experience, with attentive servers and tasty food. Breakfast was a delight, served to me at my table. The room I had was large, quiet, and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel Chester.
