Beautiful Hotel - Motel type service
1) Check in was easy & quick since I reserved and prepaid online. Staff was professional, efficicient, and courteous. 2) We arrived early and allowed to check in. Received desired bed type and placed in a well apportioned suite. 3) Housekeeping services are mediocre. There was a plastic clothing tag on the floor of the en suite bathroom that was never picked up by housekeeping during our 3-night stay. There was other evidence that floors were not cleaned. 4) During our stay we killed 2 spiders. 5) There is no food available at the hotel. There is a coffee bar available during morning hours and a gift shop with sundry items. Both places are closed by 4 PM. Vending machines only dispense sodas. If you are a gambler and have no problem getting to restaurants through a smoky haze, then the casino buffets are idea. However, for non-gamblers who do not wish to go through smoky hazes, there are no sit-down or fast food establishments on the property. You'll need to drive 4-5 miles for fast food or 30-40 minutes to Memphis to get a meal. 6) For those that come for the casino action, there is a very reliable shutte service that takes you from the hotel to the casino 24/7. You can also be shuttled to other casino properties.

Perry Family
Not Family Friendly
After 7 hours on the road our 8 year old wanted to swim when we got to the hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 7:30pm but learned after arriving that the pool closes at 6:30pm! I am not sure that I have "ever" stayed at a hotel that closes the pool at 6:30pm. Once you get to the Harrah's "compound" you are pretty much at their mercy for food unless you want to get back in the car and drive several more miles. When we arrived at the hotel the family was hungry so we had to ride the shuttle bus from the hotel to the casino and go to the casino food court which consisted of a Quzino's sub shop, Fudruckers (hamburgers) and a pizza place. The Quzino's was the worst that I ever had and the pizza was like "conveinance store style" pizza. We also found that the Toby Keith "I Love This Bar" that is advertised on the Harrahs Tunica website was permantely closed. The next morning my daughter and I wanted to go workout but we learned that there was no workout facility in our hotel (Verranda) so we had to walk (.5 mile) to the other hotel building (Terrace) to the workout facility. When we got there an employee told us that it would be $5.00 a person to workout and $20.00 a person to use the hottub. The workout room looked like a typical workout area found at most modern hotels; nothing special. So we then wanted to play some tennis but found the tennis courts in much need of repair (nets had holes and courts in bad need of resurfacing). The room was "ok" and we only paid $32 for a Thursday night so all in all I cant complain too much. If you are going to just gamble and dont mind riding a shuttle bus to the casino and eating fast food this place might be ok, although the short period of time that I was actually in the casino I didnt see anyone winning at slots or table games. The "feel" that I got for the place was that it was a "lower end" establishment. We have been to Las Vegas and this place is difintely not the Bellagio or Caesears Palace! I would not recommend this place at all for kids or a family travel destination.

A good place to stay
The location, price and amenities are great, but do not buy internet connection at this hotel. The hotel charged $11.95 for internet connection, which we got once in 24 hours for about 5 minutes.

Memphis is a 30 minute or so drive and well worth the time it takes to get there. There are many cultural amenities, including the National Civil Rights Museum, the Memphis Brooks Museum, and the Dixon Gallery. There are also great restaurants in Memphis, like Paulette's on Mud Island and The Bayou Grill at Overton Square.
