Rude and Racist Hotel Stay

I've stayed here before but it's too expensive now and then for the old southern charm of Natchez, Mississippi. It may be gorgeous on the exterior and free parking is a plus, but this hotel lacks amenities. It also lacks a warm and friendly staff. A (black) employee accused a friend staying with me of stealing food when I was right there in front of them and my friend offered to pay. He became emotionally agitated and the employee called my friend a "cracker." It would take a great deal of compassion and "freebies" in order for us to stay at this racist management of a hotel again. The morning we were checking out, house keeping came around and knocked on our door (room 321) not once...not twice...FOUR TIMES (when the door not disturb) tag was on the door handle. We had reserved for a late check-out previously though we had checked out much earlier thanks to the extremely rude staff. I've been to Natchez alot and stayed at several hotels. This will be the last.

good, read on...

great experience. Very convenient to all Natchez, Ms. Activities. We were able to walk to the Crew of Phoenix Mardi Gras Ball, and did not have to wait for car parkers or valet parking. Good hot breakfast was included, AND we were greeted with a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival. Great view of the river, We will be returning soon to enjoy the Natchez Antiques Forum once again! In the Fall.

Nice Trip Home

The location of the hotel makes it convenient to maneuver around the city sights. The highlight of the hotel is the included breakfast which is ample even though the menu does not vary. The staff was hospitable and accommodating.

As a historical city, Natchez has many attractions which should be on your list of "things to do" while visiting. The hotel's accessibility to most of these sites makes it the perfect place to stay.

Grand Hotel in Natchez

Just a plain hotel at a higher cost... The staff is not the friendliest, but things were fairly clean. You have to pay $7.95 a night when you check in, but the breakfast this pays for stops at 9 am so don't sleep in. Housekeeping also starts knocking on the door at 8 am trying to clean the room.

Decent, for Natchez anyway

I used to live in Natchez and knew the general consensus that The Grand was the best place to stay other than a B&B. The lobby is welcoming, the staff, however mostly are not. The woman who checked us in couldn't put her cell phone down long enough to answer my questions and was quite rude. Breakfast was ok. I expected better quality knowing the caliber of food offered in Natchez, but it was not to be, either of the mornings we ate. We went to Bowies, right across the street, for a meal late on Thursday night (grill night). I had a huge grilled chicken salad that was good and their interpretation of bruscetta (garlic cheese bread with chopped tomatoes baked on it). The place was open to get the breeze off the river, but if you are opposed to sharing your meal with the million bugs that came in those doors, it may not be the place for you. Make sure to eat at Mammy's for lunch if you can and please sample the cornbread and coleslaw at the restaurant across from the hotel on the river side it's name ends with "of the Walk" [...] The Pig Out Inn and Fat Mama's are also good. Firm mattresses! Oh and for the LGBT travelers, the area is typical of the deep south, just saying.

Biscuits and Blues. Live music, some of the best steaks around, and the biscuits are to die for. Also no smoking so that is definitely a plus while eating your meal.

Natchez Grand

Hotel and staff were wonderful. However, on check out there was an extra 'amenity' fee charged per day. She couldn't tell us what exactly was the amenity, but if it was the huge breakfast they served every morning then OK!
