We had each stayed here previously, several years ago, and the glamour has declined with the move toward the riverfront. It is still a very nice hotel, with an excellent, courteous staff. Everyone we dealt with (housekeeping, front desk, bell staff, doormen & valet staff) were charming, friendly & helpful. It's a good bargain, probably $150 cheaper than the Drury or any other hotel further east. The only down side was the self-park lot; at $14/night, it is located to the rear of the hotel, with access to the front desk a very long walk with luggage. We could have unloaded at the entrance, but it was still a flight up to the desk. Definitely not for those whose ambulatory abilities are challenged. Street parking was available, but only because it was New Years; otherwise, there is 'no parking' on any of the nearby streets from 3AM to 6AM. New Years activities nearby were plentiful; we watched animatronic Dick Clark in the hotel lobby, got drinks and chatted with the other survivors.

if you have kids, definitely do the City Museum. it is an eclectic re-do of an old shoe factory, 10-12 stories of artifacts, climbing areas, slides, arts and crafts, jugglers & acrobats. It is very hard to describe so the visit their web site. If you can, take the train in and use cabs or walk; parking is challenging or expensive for valet service.

We took our granddaughters on a post-Christmas trip and had a great time. Took advantage of off-season discounts and faires. Very handy for the shops, restaurants, and sights.

Long walk from hotel
We walked to the arch instead of taking a cap, to burn calories and energy. Not that far if. Kids thought it was great. Food was good in restaurant and not much higher than surrounding places. Considered other hotels but this one was perfect for what we wanted.

relaxing getaway
our experience was very pleasant. The hotel staff was exceptional. They recommended Pappy's barbaque, which I fully endorse and we were very close to the Arch, which was a must for our getaway, since my wife had never been. The valet's were very accomodating. The room was very large and spacious, but lacked a few amenities...no refrigerator is really all. We also went to see the Blues/Hawks hockey game which was only 2 blocks away. Very convenient.

Elegant yet comfortable
Nice historic hotel in renovated train station with a very professional and amiable staff. It is about a mile walk to downtown, or a short cab drive.. just minutesaway from the arch and courthouse. If you just need a nibble, there is fast food in the onsite mall, and shopping for those forgotten items. All in all a very pleasant experience!!

Forest Park contains the History Museum and the Museum of Art. It is a short drive. Lafayette Park is a shorter distance , and is the oldest park in the city in a new trendy neighborhood with quaint little shops and cafes.

Great Stay for the NLCS Playoffs!
My wife and I decided to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary with a trip to St. Louis to see Game 5 of the NLCS Playoffs. Very well maintained historical decor - beds were extremely comfortable, clean room - staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was pleasant from the front desk to the Station Grille. Einstein's had good coffee and the early morning hours were very convenient. Within walking distance to ballpark and several different restaurants. Parking was convenient. Highly recommend for a great stay!

Staff was fantastic, from the Doorman, the Front Desk and the Valet, they almost knew what I needed before me and responded quickly. Made my short stay uneventful and easy, thanks.

Very nice place for the price!
Hotel was very nice. Great location for easy access to the zoo, arch, science center, and city museum which is a must see. My only complaint was the parking. Hotel charges 14 per night for self parking or 24 per night for valet. Be prepared to pay for parking everywhere you visit in St. Louis.

Train Station
Beautiful hotel but our room was very far from the lobby. The rooms were like a maze and it took us 3 turns down long hallways, thank goodness for signs. As senior citizens with health issues, it was too long a walk for us. We were there to attend a wedding & the hotel was not far from the City Museum & other attractions.

Hotel is beautiful great for receptions & close to other attractions in St. Louis. Also the metro stop right at the hotel. But be prepared to pay for all your meals and other transportation. We had a flight/hotel package which did not include breakfast.
