Birthday in St. Louie

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the Hyatt at the Arch. It was convenient to where we wanted to go - Lacledes Landing, Scottrade Center, Washington Street District and of course the Arch. The room was comfortable and clean. Also loved that the hotel had a nice gym and a cafe inside. We also got a nice birthday drink at Red, which was delicious.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Many of the restaurants and bars in the Soulard District offer free shuttle service to Blues Hockey games and Cardinal games. It's a great way to get safely to a game without having to worry about parking.

St. Louis Wow!

I chose the Hyatt because of my ongoing love affair with Ol' Man River, thinking I couldn't get any more up close and personal unless I was on a boat. I arranged an upgrade to a river view room., which provided spectacular views. The room was very relaxing and comfortable, and the staff very accommodating. The location was a great base to explore downtown and midtown, and convenient to major highways to more farflung destinations (including the airport.)

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Take the tourist guide recommendations for restaurants with a grain of salt. Some are great; some past their prime. Go with a second choice in mind if you pull up and are not thrilled with what you see.

Nice but parking was a bear

The parking (located around the block) could only accept cash - no credit cards. So I had to walk in down the street in the rain to an ATM and arrive at my client late. The workout room was great.

Room was a bit small but adequate. Shower door not a good design. Couldn't tell that the door was not sealed and water spilled all over the bathroom floor.

Quick Get Away

The hotel was easily accessible from the highway and the staff was excellent. The hotel offered a variety of dining options. B/c I was traveling solo, the room size with a king size bed didn't bother me.
