Great St. Louis Hotel
The Hilton Downtown is a beautiful old structure. The rooms are nicely decorated, updated, and spotless. The food is quite good and the bar is a great convenience. The staff was friendly on this visit, but could improve by being a bit more helpful. Overall, it's a great deal. And, the downtown location cannot be beat.

Expected More
I expected more from a boutique hotel. The location is probably better for the summer since its near the ballpark, but in the winter downtown is just deserted. The fire alarm went off at 2am, and we had to wait outside for an hour because of a stupid prank. Staff was somewhat helpful. Had to talk to three people to get my parking card fixed and the rattling heater fixed. Overall, the hotel was nice, but decor is dated. Not as nice as I expected, but still a good value for the money.

Great Weekend Getaway
We stayed here for a 3 night weekend recently and it was really fantastic. The staff is so wonderful, they were attentive and gave us some really good recommendations on things to do in town. The hotel is located about two blocks from the Arch, and 6 blocks from a bar and nightclub strip. Only one hiccup...our room was really nice ( very clean and had been updated) but it had a view of a brick wall...so it was kinda of dark (not a lot of natural light). I'd encourage other guests to ask for a room with a better view. Otherwise, terriffic value for the money.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Initially we were concerned that the downtown area may not be safe at night due to some reviews, and we decided to take cabs in the local area from place to place. We ended up walking a few places, because they were sooo close, like the Arch and the bar strip, and we did feel relatively safe. Good thing, too, because the cabs were a little expensive...$3 just to get in and $4-6 to go just a few blocks...we were out $8 everytime we took a taxi.

Good value
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, and felt like I knew what I was paying for. Above average amenities: nice gym and jacuzzi, free wi-fi (a little slow, but hey, it's free), complimentary water in the room. The location was 0.5miles from the America's convention center, which took me five to ten minutes to walk to and the neighborhood at night was not too sketchy. Cleanliness I dock a little because of a sewer odor coming from the bathroom drains. The room was comfortable and a little dark because it was a "building view" but I didn't mind because the jetlag made me sleepy mid-afternoon so I could catch a nap. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. I especially liked a hostess in the restaurant who went out of her way to get me the an extra large cup every morning for the complementary Kona coffee. Five stars for the staff!

A Gem
Terrific experience. Immaculate. Very good service. Beautiful architecture in the lobby area carries into the rooms - with very high ceilings, ceiling-to-floor drapes, etc. It was a top-level experience at an extraordinary bargain. Only suggestion I would give the hotel - have people there to assist you with your bags to your room. That was missing in my experience. Other than that small thing - A+.
