The Wireless Worked, but ...
Prodigal Daughter Nov 23, 2009
The well-intentioned staff attempted to find us a quiet room. Unfortunately, the walls and floors are quite thin, so ... neighbors above and to the side destroyed our sleep with slamming drawers and heavy footsteps *all* thru the night. Won't go back. Pay the extra money to stay somewhere better.

It was okay..there was construction so the paint smell by the elevators was pretty strong. The windows were very dirty in the ... room but the rest of the room was clean. Wished there was a fridge and/or microwave in the room, especially with kids. I'd stay there again if there wasn't anything else available.

Zona Rosa, spanish for The Pink Zone, named after the Zona Rosa in Mexico City. Walkable if you're in good shape, have time and aren't carrying items back, otherwise, pay the low shuttle fee. Lots of dinning, shopping, bars, entertainment.

Older hotel with huge, roomy, comfy lobby that doubles as a relaxation area with widescreen tv. Lots of darker wood, medium ... size pool, good sized rooms, Free HBO Comedy. The staff and service stool out to me, I didn't ask them for anything special, but had the feeling that they'd go the extra mile. "Free Shuttle" now is a cost item.

Needs Major Remodeling and Repairs
Topeka Steve Aug 17, 2009
The staff was great. But the hotel needs repairs and remodeled. They had notes on elevator press down to go up. On the 11th ... floor the button didn't work. We had to walk down to 6th floor to get a button that would call the elevator. The breakfast is good. The small bar was fun with Karaoke.

WARNING**check to make sure there is no baseball tournament in town before you stay!! The hotel was full of children due to a ... baseball tournament. Their chaperones were not watching them or keeping them quiet--running through the hallways, slamming doors even after 2a.m. Hotel staff attempted to quiet them down, but within 20-40 minutes the kids were up and at it again.

Hotel was ok for the money,And the full time staff was helpful and knowledgeable, however the part time staff was lazy and ... not so knowledgeable. For example the full time continental breakfast full time staff member was extremely good every thing was the same, every day. He watched constantly to make sure nothing was running low, or if anything needed cleanded up. He was friendly and professional. However, the lady that worked the room on his day off, was the exact opposite. She was lazy, and hid in the back room most of the time. I had gone down to have breakfast @ 9:00am in the middle of their breakfast hours. And at that point she still hadn't put out the butter for the waffles, toast, and the bagels. And when i then ask for some she returned with butter that was so frozen that it wouldn't even begin to melt on my hot waffle. so at that point I was no longer interested in eating a dry tastless waffle. And i'm sure that everyone that came before me felt the same way. The front desk staff was very helpfull and pleasant, as well as the maid service however the hotel has alot of maintenance issues.

Yikes
Travel123 Jun 3, 2009
Unfortunately this hotel was understaffed and is in bad need of renovation. The wallpaper was peeling to reveal mold, there ... was a sewage smell, and the staff weren't great at follow through. For instance, did not provide a wake up call when asked, yelled loudly in the hallway, did not provide batteries for television remote. Small things that added up to an unpleasant experience. The hotel restaurant was closed for half of the week without warning, and the pictures online did not truthfully represent the accommodations.

Great room with best Military discount
L.J. -- Military wife May 12, 2009
Lovely hotel, beautiful lobby, friendly staff, convenient airport shuttle, rooms are spacious and the water pressure in the ... shower was the best we have ever had at a hotel. I was most impressed with the military discount that was offered! Normally, IF a hotel offers the military discount--it is small. This is the first time it was a substantial discount. It made you feel that HJ actually does care about those in the military. I would stay again just to give them my business for honoring all those who serve. The only con was the breakfast. Waffles are awesome, fruit juice, yogurt, coffee, tea, pastries need help, only plain oatmeal and no protein--if you are lactose intolerant and can't have yogurt. Leave time to grab something at the airport. But not a deal breaker. This hotel is worth the stay and will have us looking at other Howard Johnsons where we travel.

This was an older hotel that had definitely seen better times. The Iron was broken and we had to ask fora replacement. ... Location was close to a huge shopping center and that was a plus. Space for clothes was limited, but other wise it was clean, just a little worn.
