Motel 6 Hannibal MO

All we needed was a place to catch up on rest before continuing on with a road trip. Because one of our two dogs was 65+ lbs I'd done some motel research prior to our leaving home and I knew this one to be accepting. I called ahead just to make sure and was told that what they'll generally do is charge $100 deposit and upon checkout they would physically check the room to assess any damages. Fair enough. We checked in around 9p and was given a second floor room -- not a big deal but I was surprised there were no lower floors available on a Wednesday night. Sure I could have booked in advance but I wasn't sure we'd make it that far that first day. There was no mention of the pet deposit and I did mention one of my dogs being larger. The parking lot felt ... a tad sketchy. And there wasn't really a designated pet area -- I asked, and was told, "Oh, out in back by the telephone..pole..thing." There's a huge transformer out back. And a telephone pole. Both were surrounded by straw. There is a grassy area but I got the impression guests were not encouraged to take their pets to it. Now the room. It was a hotbox. I get saving costs by not running the air in empty rooms but the incredibly loud fan took forever to get the room to a comfortable level. But worse than the swampy feeling was the SMELL. It smelled of dogs. What could I, a dog owner myself, expect of a dog friendly room? Certainly not the smell of filthy wet dogs! That room has driven home for me the need to travel w/ Febreeze. Thankfully I had my dogs' "refresher spray" and it helped to make it tolerable. The window could open, but without a screen I wasn't inclined to give ANY MORE bugs a free night with us. Yes, bugs -- er, bug. I saw an unfamiliarish biggish black bug while brushing my teeth. It flew around a bit before landing and getting in/or behind the light box and we never saw it again. Also, granted I arrived after dark and left before dawn but none of the pictures resemble where I stayed.... Would I stay here again? No. But the price was almost right.

I guess nobody stays at Motel 6 because they are looking for a top tier experience but the motel could have been better. There were long, black hairs (not mine) on the walls of the shower which I noticed right away when I checked in. I stopped by the desk the next morning to leave a message that I didn't need housekeeping services except to clean the hairs from the shower, give me additional toilet paper (which I was also using as tissue for my running nose because they do not supply tissue) because the roll was almost spent, and clean pillow cases because the cases smelled like stale smoke in my non-smoking room. When I returned to my room that evening the hairs were still in the shower and they hadn't left additional toilet paper. The pillow cases had been changed and the room cleaned. Despite the hairs (which were not cleaned away during my entire stay) and the dwindling toilet paper the room seemed pretty clean and everything was in working order. It would have been nice to have a bag for my dirty laundry, a clock radio, tissue, and iron & ironing board, more than coffee in the lobby, and better pool hours though.

This place was right off the hi-way, so located conveniently...BUT, it lacked some really basic hotel 'amenities'. No Kleenex-no where. No PERSON at the front desk at around 7:30 am-they literally had a Phone sitting on the counter you dialed if you needed to talk to anyone! (Cheap!NEVER seen that.) No Lamp next to the bed - it was ripped down off the wall bracket I guess.(that was so attractive) No KEY CARDS to get into your room-they said the card-making machine had broken the day before, so they had to walk w/you to your room every time you needed in. There were giant cracks & a large dent in the wall. yes there was fresh paint(but it was a poor quality of work on the paintjob!), BUT...fresh paint doesn't cover up obvious CHEAP management. Oh...AND I could see some blood spots ON the mattress pad, thru the really THIN sheets. I stuck a wash rag b/t the sheets & pad & prayed I didn't catch anything deadly. So...Come ON Motel 6- get your owner/operators to step up their quality and service!

wasnt happy about havimg to go downstairs to get in our room cause they had no key cards and having to wake up the receptionest otherwise, our stay would have been good

I was looking for a clean, inexpensive hotel and that is what I got. Nothing fancy, but nothing dirty. Staff was friendly and the kids loved the pool. Great stay for the money.

A little more than i expect frm a Motel 6, pool, exercize room, king bed.

For the price I was paying I was expecting a not so nice place but was pleasantly surprised. Its an older place but have paid a lot more for a lot less in the past. The beds were comfortable and clean. The kids loved the pool! The rooms were a little over scented but I opened the window for a few minutes and that was fixed. You should plan to bring your own shampoo/conditioner but for the price not a big deal. Would definetly suggest to others and will visit again.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this as 5 1/2 to 6.No major complaints but felt I could have made a better decision picking a motel.

I thought this hotel was great for a short stay. It wasn't perfect but it is a dream for a family traveling on a budget. The hotel was quiet, fairly clean, the staff was friendly, the pool was great and the breakfast in the morning was fully stocked even 30mins before it closed. I would definately stay here again!!
