Good value

We stayed here while on a visit to Winona State. It's nearby and located near restaurants and gas stations. Check-in was great, they were ready for us and took seconds. Very accomodating staff who gave us good directions. Room was clean, bathroom clean. Continental breakfast in AM was just ok, but good to grab cup of coffee for the morning.

Amazing

We went to visit our friends at WSU- pretty close to the campus. The staff was very frieldly, we asked for another blanket and not even 5min later there was a knock at the door. There was a party in the room next to us and unless we went in the hall we didnt hear a sound! only downer was that we asked for a smoking room, we got a room on the 3rd floor, no smoking and no balcony so we had to walk downstairs and go outside. But overall i would stay there agian and would recommend this hotel!

Not so sure about this one

We stayed here to visit my inlaws to go to Oktoberfest in LaCrosse and my daughter (3 yrs) wanted to swim. The first room we got reaked of smoke, so we switched rooms right away. The next room we got smelled, but was better. The pool area was nice on Sat, but was never picked up all day Saturday and there were a lot empty beer cans and used towels all over on Sunday morning. There weren't any pool towels left, either. The breakfast buffet was decent, but poorly organized. I spent 5 min trying to find butter for the waffles. Our room had some sort of water stain on the ceiling and it needed to be fixed, pieces of the ceiling were falling off. It was remarkably quiet considering there was a wedding reception on Sat and some sort of company meeting Friday. The staff was friendly and helpful, but housekeeping seemed lacking. The location is great, right next to lots of shopping and restaurants.

Very Nice Experience

We were attending a family reunion in LaCrosse so we arrived late at the Inn and left early. I wish we could have spent more time there. The location is beautiful. The hills were just beginning to show their fall colors. The pool looked inviting even though we didn't take the time to try it out. There was a wedding at the Inn, but we didn't hear anything in our room. It was comfortable and nicely appointed.

Short stay

The staff was friendly enough. The room clean and beds comfortable. Wasn't thrilled to have to use my room key to access the ice. We asked about a place to eat, the first person mentioned a couple of places, but the second person provided us with a list and their locations. I was hoping to get some breakfast or juice in the morning, but the breakfast area didn't open until 9 am on Saturday, not very convenient if you need to be somewhere, which we did.

Lots of problems

I'd reserved 2 rooms; my cousins arrived ahead of me and were told that my room had been reserved but theirs hadn't. Fortunately, there was an extra room available. Front desk staff were not friendly or helpful; one refused to let me see my receipt upon check-out until I demanded to make sure that the missed reservation had been billed correctly! My room's fan/AC was so mildewed and moldy that I had to load up on asthma meds and seriously wondered if I'd end up in the ER, and my partner got a sore throat, even with it OFF. The room was dusty, too. The heated pool was too chilly to swim in. I asked a staffer for a couple of plastic bags for ice for a bumped elbow and was grudgingly doled out one bag. I have yet to be able to reach the manger to discuss this with her.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The Pickwick Inn, south of Winona, looks like a dive, but the food is decent, plentiful and inexpensive, and the view of the creek and waterfall is gorgeous. The owners put up hummingbird feeders and I counted 7 hummingbirds while we had lunch there. The old restored Pickwick water mill just up the road is worth a visit, too.

Nice price, great staff

The Riverport is a good value, comfortable, and pet friendly. They also have very friendly staff members, which is important to me. I have stayed here several times and no longer consider any other hotels in Winona when I am in town.

Go to Bloedow's bakery. It is amazing - the glazed doughnuts and maple long johns are the best.
