We were in town for the Shakespeare Festival and this was one of few hotels that had vacancy. Of those available it was the most affordable. Rooms were fine...nothing fancy. Needs some updating in the hallways/common areas but rooms were fine. A discount on Perkins breakfast with your stay is a decent bonus.

doubtful security
The outside of the the hotel looks shabby, but the rooms were nicely furnished and clean. Pets are allowed and we had our dog with us. After my husband took our dog out at 3 a.m. he was approached by two men in the hall as he was trying to make the key card work in the door. One man came out of a room, greeted my husband, and started walking down the hall toward him. He asked, "Remember me?" which my husband did not. Before he could reply,a man on the other side, who must have come in from the outside said, "Who me?" The first man said sternly to this man, "I'm not talking to you right now." At this point my husband made it in to our room. He definitely felt threatened. He immediatley reported the incident to the front desk, but they did not record it. When we asked for an explanation at the front desk in the morning, they knew nothing about it. The manager could not be reached to speak with us. This was a bad experience.

Not so good.
We were in town for college graduation. The hotel was in the process of remodeling. We had a room that was not remodeled yet and was not nice at all. Very dirty. The reservation included a free breakfast at Perkins which was good. Location is good for walking paths, Target, Walmart, eating places. Beautiful town, not so beautiful accomdations. Hopefully will be better after remodeling is done.

Rough Weekend Stay
[...] (the night front desk person) did her best to help us. We had to move 2x. First room #136 was not clean (toe nail clippings on floor). Second Room #138 had no heat. Room Temp 62F. Third room, #238 the toilet did not work. The hotel is in dire need of plumbing, heating repairs and interior upgrades. Day front desk person [...] was not helpful at all. [...] did not respond (as promised) to remediate heating issues in room #2.

low quality inn
The room was small, ugly and smelled bad. The arrangement of the room was clumsy and made it difficult for the three of us to use the facilities as the bathroom door hit any one using the sink. The lighting was poor in the sink area.

Ok if everywhere else is full
The bathroom sin the loby area were very dirty with an exposed/open thermostat. The location was fine, and the breakfast at perkins was a plus. The room are all non smoking but they sure dont smell like it and if you have more than 2 people in one of these rooms it is seriously cramped. And the on site bar was skeezy at best.

AWFUL!! AWFUL!! AWFUL!!
It was awful. One of the rooms we rented did not have an outside lock on it and all the equipment to fix it was left in side the motel room on the vent. The door was unlock when we got there and to exit the room for it to be locked you had to go through the adjoining room. Many of the vents were rusty and wall paper was peeling off the walls. Not just coming off but PEELING off the walls!! The bath tubs did not drain correctly and when we were done showering and it finally drained hair...tons of it..was left in the bath tub. It was NOT our hair either. I WOULD NOT recommend staying here. If it your last option please check into the Pla-Mor campground down on Rt. 61. They offer an apartment above their office for only 75.00 per night.......very nice, clean, and NO rust; provides lock on the doors; and wall paper remains on the walls.

Beware the Karoke
The inn is attached to a Perkins; in fact, you get eggs, pancakes and bacon free from the Perkins. There is a Target, Wal-Mart, Mills Fleet Farm all near by. The rooms are OK; the bathroom small - about what you might expect. The really annoying thing was the late night karoke by the pool - it was very loud!

Whats so good about Winona?
It needs to be remodeled badly. The peeling wall paper in my room, to the uncleaned bath room, with a tub that took forever to drain after a shower. Staff was very nice but I still couldn't wait to leave.

A tired old building
They staff was extremely friendly, but building was old and somewhat run down. The pool facilities were out of order. The location is at a busy intersection with no view. The attached Perkins restaurant provided a free breakfast of 3 undercooked pancakes, 2 eggs, and a sausage patty--Yet, we had to pay $1.99 for each cup of mediocre coffee. The rooms were fairly clean and the sheets were new, but the mattresses were old with craters in the middle. I paid Orbitz $99 for the room, but the hotel said it was $71. I guess Orbitz made a little on that deal. Purchasing through Orbitz locked me into the room. Once it was purchased, there was no going back on the deal. I chose this hotel because the previous reviews were 4.5 out of 5. That was not my experience. I was disappointed. The town of Winona, however, is lovely. I wish we had more time to enjoy it. The people there are very friendly.
