Good location...but
We enjoyed our stay, the "but" is because of the neighborhood to the south. It is just rundown . WE HAD NO problems with anyone in the area. The hotel looks like a top hotel outside and in. The restaurant was close for the Labor Day holiday and renovations, but there are plenty of choices in the area. My biggest problem was that I couldn't get on the internet on Sun. night. I was given a phone number and talked to a real live person! (no extra charge) and he said one of the hubs were down and apologized. It was fine the next morning.

Not Applicable
Not too far from the Mall of America, at least from the perspective that we drove 40 + miles to get to hotel. It must be about 20 miles away at least. It would be difficult on a work day to get there due to driving through St. Paul and Minneapolis, but weekend travel OK

Exploring my options did not pay off!
WOW! What a disaster our week-end turned out to be, after I researched for hours to find the "Perfect" hotel near our home. Upon making reservations and picking our room: King Executive Suite, I called the Hotel to get details of our room: King bed in bdroom w/ separate living area with pull-out couch, and SOME of the rooms came with a Jacuzzi! Included in the "Executive" rooms on top floor was FREE cocktails, and I believe brkfast and Hours De'Vours in the evening. Yes, we were there...and very excited until we arrived. Our "perfect" room turned out to be a King bed and a chair in ONE room. Although it was on the eighth floor where was our 10 yr. old son & his friend going to sleep? There wasn't even enough room for a hide-away bed. Long story short we were put into a Dbl. room the 1st evening (when we had the kids, and didn't the 2nd night) and was promised to have the room the next evening which we had reserved and paid for. Next day at approx. 10 a.m. we asked if our room was avail. yet and told they knew nothing about our room, in fact they had no Executive Suites available. They requested I come back at 3:00 when the salesman started his shift and who had promised us the room (in fact two times - once again later in the evening when I walked by he assured me we'd have our room the next evening). Needless to say when I spoke w/ him he tried to explain that he thought I was someone else WHEN HE TALKED TO ME ON THE PHONE...oh by the way, our phone did not work in the 1st room. I explained to him that he indeed did NOT talk with me via phone, that it was in person, and he promised me twice we would be enjoying the room we reserved. Instead we got put into a "corner room with King bed and couch" which was nice, but not what we reserved and much better than the room from the night before where we were put on the 2nd floor where the meeting rooms were and the Hockey Tournaments were in town and stayed on the same floor as us. Partying, screaming, and being obnoxious until 4:am. I do understand the Hotel was busy, but they did not care about us at all. There was no offer of a discount or even a coupon for the restaurant. The restaurant/lounge was also a huge disappointment. We stopped in for a cocktail and an appetizer. My husband asked the waiter if they had Michelob Golden Draft Light and he said they did not, we ordered Nachos and specifically requested twice no jalapenos. The nachos arrived with the jalapenos which we took off and put on a side plate, which he noticed when he came back after we were just about done eating to see if everything was alright. He was in good company with his co-workers as far as customer service went. Later that evening we stopped back in for a drink, my husband had mentioned he was disappointed they didn't have "his beer". I told him to ask anyways since our server was so bad - sure enough they did have it! At "last call" the bartender asked the gentlemen next to us if they wanted last call. She then proceeded onto the other patrons at the end of the bar and I got her attention by yelling that we would like another and she nodded her head and said, "just a second". Although she was busy I assumed she'd be getting to us. About 5 mins. later when she was at the register I told her what we wanted to drink, she looked at her watch and said it was too late now. By this time I just about had it with that place. I reminded her that she told me a few minutes earlier she'd be right with me. She said sorry it's too late and she basicly ignored us. What really put me over the top is that she was "sneaking" beer to the other guests. I was so disappointed with the Hotel at this point I actually took my tip back off the bar. We were made to feel like we were not important to anyone there, and almost felt like a criminal. It is too bad we were treated so badly because it is a nice place, just the customer service needs a lot of improvement. We guarantee we will never stay there again nor will we suggest...

Could have been much worse...
The stay was excellent except for one snafu which was immediately resolved. We reserved a King with sofa bed room and were placed in a standard king room. I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk, a manager came over and immediately resolved the issue. I will definitely stay there again.
