Over Priced
The hotel experience itself was OK. My big gripe is that I was under the understanding that booking online thru [...], I would get the best price.... NOT TRUE!!! When we checked in, I found out that I paid $40 more onlie!! Manager would not refund me because of the "fixed rates". Needless to say, I will not be going back there again. Lesson Learned. Call the hotel and get the price over the phone first!

Our favorite hotel in Minneapolis area
We stay at the Shakopee Americinn every time we visit the Minneapolis area, because it is everyone's favorite! It is in walking distance to Canterbury Park (Horse racing, now FREE), and very short drive to ValleyFair (amusement park), Chanhassen Dinner Theater, and the MN Renaissance Festival, the places we go most often. We love the fun waterslide, and the fabulous hot waffles for breakfast! Also in walking distance are a Culver's restaurant (right next door) and a McDonalds (right across the street). There is a good-size gas/convenience store across the street as well. Located right on a main highway, it's very easy to find, and easy to find our way other places as well, due to it's convenient location. AND, they have free wireless internet in all the rooms, so I can bring my laptop and still keep up with e-mail, etc.

ValleyFair Trip
This hotel was in an ideal location from Valleyfair. Just down the road. The management was very obligent when we needed extra towels and pillows. The pool was great with the water slide and hot tub held 9 (need I say more) We did stay more than one day, and I don't like waffles, (main choice) but I had bagel, ceral or toast. Hotel very clean. If you have an problems at all, the management was quick to service any of your requests. Nice hotel.

Nice place
The AmericInn Shakopee is quite new (not more than 3 or 4 years old I would think) and very clean. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. It did not have the mildewy smell or the smell of cleaning chemicals so common in roadside hotels. The lobby was pleasant and there was a basket of apples and bananas at the front desk. The complimentary breakfast was good, and included waffle irons, which not all places have. A bit of a drive to Minneapolis proper, but I would definitely recommend the place.

Best of both worlds
AmericInn Shakopee provided the perfect weekend vacation spot. The staff was amazing as they were ready to address any situation from a clogged bathroom fixture, to making business contacts online, helping an injured child, too feeding my hungry crew at breakfast. The quiet restful sleep was a welcome break from a busy work week.

Seemed Okay
I think that this would be a very nice place to stay as long as it was not during an extremely busy time of year. When I went the hotel was pretty well booked up and they were not quite prepared for the full house that they had. The room was comfortable and quiet, but could use a little better cleaning staff. The complimentary breakfast was great, but it was tough to get in to get it because of the number of people and the way things were laid out, and they also ran out of their hot items on one of the days I was there. Overall, the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. I would stay there again, but would ask if they were expecting a full house.

Enjoyable Experience
Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The contintental breakfast was by far one of the best I've experienced. What would have made this a perfect stay would've been if we didn't have to go out of our way to request addtional towels, shampoos, or toilet paper. We had a suite and there were 5 registered guests in the room. Each day after our rooms had been made up (with the exception of one I believe) we didn't have a sufficient amount of the above listed items. Other than that, it was a great place to stay for 5 nights and we'd go back again. The kids loved the pool and slide and the adults enjoyed the pool, spa, and sauna amentities.

Valley Fair, The Mall of America, a gambling casino, tons of shopping and restaurants too. This hotel was close to all of the attractions that we wanted to visit while in town.
