Stay Away

I was very excited to stay at this hotel given the location was close to my destination in Rochester and the description seemed like a perfect place for my wife and I to stay for a quick trip to see some friends. We could not have been more disappointed. Here are the reasons: 1) We arrived late and there was no front desk attendant. The put our key and paperwork in a lock box. Not the best first impression. 2) There was an unpleasant odor throughout the hotel. Mixture of smoke and staleness. 3) To call our room a suite would be a huge overstatement. The room was tiny with a small bed, aged furniture and the walls were stark and unattractive. 4) The bathroom had no amenities and the towels were dingy. 5) No shampoo, conditioner or soap provided. Who travels with these items? It is a given that the hotel will provide them... so we went without. 6) No fitness room despite there being one listed as an amenity. I was very frustrated by this when I got up early after a terrible night of sleep on the small bed and got no empathy from the front desk attendant. I attempted to leave the hotel as soon as possible the day after our first night but had to wait until 10:00am for a manager to arrive. I think it is pretty scary that a hotel has no decision maker available in the night hours or until 10:00am during the day. We could not wait to get out of this hotel and we finally were able to get a refund and get a new hotel later in the day. The worst part is the amount this hotel costs compared to others inthe area. I could see if this was a bargain priced hotel, but it is not. I will never stay at this chain again and I recommend you stay away.

Will stay again!

We found the hotel staff to be very friendly, accomodating and professional. This may not be a five star hotel, but it more than met our needs and were overall very pleased with our stay. Should we have need to stay overnight at Rochester again, we will definitely consider staying at this facility again. Thanks for making our stay pleasant and enjoyable! Walter & Lola Schott

Aloof Staff

Hotel runs on a bare-bones staff such that you have to dial a phone from the lobby to get someone to help you - even at prime check-in time around 4:00. Hotel is mostly for Mayo Clinic patients and relatives so it feels like a hospital. There is no pool, game room, exercise room which at least keeps the kids out. Quiet, clean facility.

Great time!

Everything was great! The receptionist even bumped us up to a room with a King size bed when we had requested a Queen size one. Very friendly and very accomodating.

Great place for a rest

The stay at ESA Rochester-North was a restful night's stay. My room was very clean and I even had a note from the housekeeper who had requested my input concerning the room's cleanliness. The room wasn't super fancy but it had everything that I needed. I didn't expect a small kitchenette in a room at this price. It was nice to pull some leftovers out of the fridge from the night before... it made for a quick breakfast so I could get back on the road. Also, the staff was very helpful and carried a great attitude. I highly recommend coming here if needing a place to rest. The amenities are great for the price.

Smokey Inn

Third floor allowed smoking in some rooms. Initially placed on that floor and refused room. Rest of hotel smelled like smoke, especially elevator. If it had been possible we would have left. No refund. Never thinking in this day, that smoking would ever be a problem in a public place.
