Since 1875- we have provided our guests with unparalleled service and incomparable experiences. Set on the banks of the Mississippi River and with history at our back- the St. James offers a setting few other establishments can boast. We hope you take full advantage of this perfect blend of history- setting and ambience.
The historic atmosphere begins here in your room. Each guest suite is thoughtfully decorated and themed from the one-of-a-kind quilt on the comfortable bed to the name on the door honoring one of the many grand old Mississippi riverboats. Outside your room- explore the hotels many common areas. Relax with a book in our stately library- enjoy the grandeur of the pipe organ in our historic lobby or marvel at the antique chandelier in the retail courtyard.
When it comes time to dine- we offer a variety of unique and inviting options. Savor a steak and glass of wine at The Port. Peruse the many appetizing menu options for breakfast or lunch at the Veranda. Grab a snack or Starbucks coffee at Claras. Take in a panoramic river view at The Patio Porch. Or sip a well-aged Scotch at the classic bar inside Jimmys Pub.
Just outside our doors youll find a wealth of things to do and see in this charming river town. Stroll through the three riverside parks- catch a glimpse of the hundreds of resident and migratory bald eagles or visit the famous Red Wing Pottery factory. Set your own pace- and when you return to the hotel were here to take care of you.

weekend getaway
The hotel was very nice. Beautiful antique furniture everywhere. We ended up in a smaller room, so things were a little tight. Walking distance from the Mississippi river and shopping. Parking ramp was convenient.

Red Wing Getaway
This was my first trip to Red Wing. I can't imagine staying any other place than the St. James Hotel. I had heard train noise could be a problem but I heard nothing. My bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning. Hotel is much
larger than I imagined. Unique experience to stay here. Jimmy's Pub was pretty good. Walleye cakes were delish.

great hotel!
Wonderful room. We combined it with an evening at the Sheldon Theater nearby, a beautiful historic theater. Then a late night drink and desert at Jimmy's bar above the St James, looking out to the river. perfect!
