Historic elegance meets modern convenience

The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel was originally built as a railway station, which dates back to the early 1900s. Now lovingly restored and fitted with modern amenities expected of an upscale hotel, the old-world charm is retained within the modern features. The property offers a unique venue for weddings, special events and corporate meetings. A seasonal ice-skating rink and indoor water park provide great entertainment for guests. Charley's Grill offers savory cuisine – a taste of classic Mid-Western fare and deserts as well as room service. For a more intimate snack or drink, the Stone Arch Bar offers a glimpse into the urban style of the steam-train age. The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel is smoke-free.

3 Reasons To Stay
  • Historical charm – originally a turn-of-the-century railway station

  • Located in the Riverfront and Mill district of downtown Minneapolis

  • Features an enclosed seasonal ice-rink and award-winning water park

The Depot Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel Rooms

Designed to give a modern twist to the building's historic past, rooms in the Depot Renaissance Hotel are lavishly comfortable with either modern or historic styling. Suites are located in the historic surroundings of the old railway station, artfully furnished with period pieces, and feature 12-foot ceilings. Combined with oversized windows and stunning views of the Minneapolis skyline, rooms feel bright and spacious. A connectivity panel allows guest computers to be displayed on the 32-inch flat screen TV. High-speed Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

Great Hotel, nice location.

I found this hotel to be very clean and convenient to all parts of Minneapolis. The staff was very nice and things went very smooth. Safe location. My only complaint was the valet service was a bit of a hassle at times. Id self park.

Great hotel but they put 4 of us in King

[...]I know I selected two beds and was charged for 4 people in the room. We ended up with a single kid bed...they did give us a sofa pull out but those are not comfortable at all and take up too much space for 4 people. Other than that, nice hotel, friendly staff and good location for Twins and Vikings games.

Hidden fees and costs.

Was there for family issues. The hotel was nice, but with parking and internet service, add an additional $35 to $45 per day to the price. This was not divulged and came as an unpleasant surprise. Because of these hidden costs, I would not stay there again as other hotels have free parking and internet.

Clean, Nice, not great

We went out for my son's graduation. The location was very convienant to the school. My wife and I stayed one night while my son and girlfriend were there for three nights. We had a room with 2 double beds. First, the hotel was good in that there was no extra charge for all four of us staying in the room for one night. The hotel had self parking for a fee. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were typical hotel in one was not enough but two was too many. The wi-fi in the hotel was an extra fee which I think is unusual in today's connected world. There was no refrigerator or microwave. The shower had the nice shower head and good water pressure. We ate at the hotel for breakfast one morning. The food was good but way overpriced ($6.00 for cereal). This may be typical for a hotel in a city. I am used to hotels in the suburbs where a breakfast can be included such as confort inn etc..

Depot Renaissance Mn Hotel

Nice patio setting for drinks and snacks. Bar lounge area comfortable for having drinks or reading/waiting. Restaurant next to lobby was convenient, quick service. Fitness/exercise room has good quality equipment and a variety-first class and convenient to use. Underground parking also convenient to use and access to hotel. Hotel lobby area very noisy-high ceilings and brick construction are likely cause. Hotel location convenient to city, area attractions and interstate. Beds more comfortable that any other that I have used in a hotel. Sink/vanity area in room is too small. Quality of entire hotel very high.

Use self parking, even though it cost $15/day rather than valet parking which is twice as much

Historic Rail Station with Modern Style

The Depot Hotel was a great location--a few blocks from the Nicollet Mall, a few blocks from the Riverfront district and bridges across the river, a few blocks from the Falls, and only about 5 blocks from the light rail. The atmosphere was lovely, as was the Stone Arch Bar. The facilities look awesome if you're looking to rent space for an event, too. It doesn't have a skyway, though, so it might not be a great choice in the winter.

Very nice hotel in downtown

We were in town for the University of Minnesota Law School Graduation. The hotel is located just across the river and then about a mile to the campus. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nicely decorated, was very comfortable and quiet most of the time. We overlooked the front entrance and could hear other guests coming and going. We did have a couple items in the room that needed to be repaired and these were taken care of immediately after we called. We also had lunch at the hotel. The menu offered a good variety and food was plentiful and tasty.

The sculpture garden just west of Hennipin Ave and north of the Lake of the Isles area was wonderful. It is well worth seeing. And, after you finish there you might enjoy driving through the Lake of the Isles area. The homes and the walking trails are beautiful.

Wonderful place to stay!

A friend told me about this place. Generally when I stay in Minneapolis I stay at the Hilton, Hyatt, or Graves. They told me this place has a lot of character and is really nice for the price! I would have to agree with all of those statements and I will be staying here again. I am an extremely picky person and everything was top notch, I would recommend it to anyone.
