The only full service hotel on the U of M campus
Located on the University of Minnesota campus, The Commons Hotel is just three minutes from downtown and only steps from the new TCF Bank Stadium, lively cafes and bars. location, location, location
If you are visiting the U of M, the hotel is right on campus. You are able to park and easily walk to any building. The front desk and restaraunt staff was very helpful and friendly. We will stay here again. For other travelers it may be worth staying further away from campus to save money, you can find rooms for much less in the surrounding area.

The place to stay if visiting the University of Minnesota
Comfortable updated rooms, excellent, extremely friendly and competent staff, restaurant very well managed. Great location for events or business at the University of Minnesota.

Beautiful Hotel!
I absolutely adore this hotel!! I commented on how much I loved the decor, they told me it was newly redesigned in a "Geek Chic" theme! Right up my alley! The rooms were just a normal size, but decorated beautifully. My room only had a shower, no tub. Don't know if that is the norm. Customer service was excellent, loved the lobby, and rooms were comfy. Even the little hotel shop was fun. Can highly recommend this place!

Hotel construction
Great hotel centrally located on the UMinn campus. Downside is the street outside is under heavy construction and so is the entire lower floor lobby area of the hotel including the front entrance. Everyone must enter through the side entrance and parking your car is an adventure of detours and one ways. Lots of dust, hanging plastic in the main lobby. Front desk is a temporary table with a few computers. No business center. Room was clean and well attended.

Not A 4 Star Experience
This was not a 4 star experience. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation and no amenities were available due to the construction. Many streets around the hotel are torn up and car travel was difficult. I would not have stayed at the hotel if the renovation was disclosed which it was not!

OK but a couple of issues
the remote did not work and we had to call twice before someone finally came (the desk clerk sent the guy to the wrong room). Also the shower rod was sagging which caused the curtain to be too long and I slipped and fell in the shower. The location was good even with the construction on Washington Ave.

Ideal location for university visit. Facilities are good .Starbuck right next door. Currently in middle of construction zone so be aware.

Perfect Business Location
This was a perfect location for doing business in Downtown Minneapolis AND St. Paul. The staff was very helpful and went beyond to accommodate me during my stay.

Great On-Campus Hotel!
Perfect location at the University of Minnesota right on campus. Very close to a great path along the Mississippi River to run or walk. Staff is always very friendly. This hotel has been our first choice when visiting our daughter at the U.
