Poison Ivy
Rotten experience at the Hotel Ivy
My husband and I decided to make a special weekend out of the U2 concert we had tickets for on a Saturday night by booking a room at a presumably classy hotel. Unfortunately, we returned to Hotel Ivy after the show ready to rest in the room we had checked into that afternoon only to discover a group of six young people had checked into it in our absence WITH OUR suitcase and toiletries IN IT! One would have expected the staff on duty to handle the situation with courtesy and apologies, but we were treated TERRIBLY and accused of not having checked in (despite our belongings being in the room, and our car being valeted)! I had to beg to retrieve my things, and was told to "shut my mouth" and "be quiet" by the front desk clerk when I complained because I would disturb the hotel guests! It was the WORST experience my husband and I have ever had at a hotel. Now, three days after the incident, we have received no call re. compensation despite being assured we would. TERRIBLE!

exceeded expectations!!
This was hands down one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in some of the best. The room was very nice, great bed, good size bathtub, and nice seperate shower. The only thing missing was a stero/radio/singing parrot?? something to listen to other than the television. The location is great, near all things downtown Minneapolis. Would reccommend the parking ramp across the street to save half the cost of valet. The staff was incredibly helpful and professional. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Beautiful, But . . .
This is a beautiful hotel in a terrific central location. On checkout, however, they tried to bill me again [...]. Also, when I checked in they asked for a credit card for "incidental" charges -- fair enough, but they sought to put a hold my credit card for over $500, which amounted to more than my pre-paid room charge. I was told the hold should have been $200, which I still think is excessive on a pre-paid stay.

Great view and location
For the most part it was enjoyable. We had no AC in the room and it was extremely hot. They provided two huge fans to keep us cool but it sounded like a jet in the room the whole night. Tried to get some type of a refund, but they just apologized.

Luxurious Overnight
The Hotel Ivy is 6 months new and it shows everywhere. Everything is new and it's obvious that attention to every detail was a high value in the planning. The bathroom was quite large and had a separate shower and sunken tub. Spa personal products in bigger-than-sample size were available to use and we were instructed to take home what we'd opened. The layout of the room and the enormous armoir created a feeling of a separate bedroom, which included an elegant upholstered chaise. Big bed, big flat screen TV, tall ceilings, creative lighting--we loved everything. We wanted a Downtown location and it was easy access to lots of things. The curbside-to-desk-to-room attendant service was courteous and personal and helpful. Lots of great restaurants close, including one right there in the hotel.
