Pricey but very nice
Happy Traveler Nov 17, 2009
My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Graves for a birthday celebration, deciding to sample some of the downtown Minneapolis ... night spots. The location was great and the room was very quiet. Beds were super comfortable. It was nice to be pampered, but somewhat annoying that coffee and ice were available only through room service (at an additional charge, of course). I would stay there again.

112 Eatery is a great stop for dinner. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Vincent also has a great Happy Hour menu from 4:30 to 6:30, but get there early. At 5:30 (on a Monday afternoon) every seat was taken.

Traveling on business. Got in late because NW Airlines was late as usual. Get to the hotel and it's a zoo. A concert is ... going on at the Target Center across the street. It's noisy, the lobby is packed, a bus is unloading -- not exactly what I was looking for at the end of a tough day. The staff was not rude, just way too busy to give me the time of day. The room was fine, except for the ridiculous uncomfortable modern couch. If you are in Minneapolis on fun this might be a nice place to stay. If your a business traveler looking for a quite place to get a good nights rest on the way to your next appointment, skip this place.

Graves is a Great Hotel!
babystace Nov 1, 2009
We live in the Minneapolis area but stay at the Graves when we want to go out on the town and not drive home. Its very ... modern and right on first ave. No cabs required after bar hopping. Food is available late, great room service. Super comfy beds will make you want to move in. Staff is very nice. Great place to reconnect with your significant other!

Amazing hotel!
Newlyweds Nov 1, 2009
We stayed at the Graves 601 because we were going to be downtown with friends for the night. The hotel is amazing, both in ... service and appearance. The rooms are very spacious and I love how the room is warm and welcoming even though the design is ultra sleek and modern. The Front Desk staff and Valet Service were friendly and helpful, ensuring that we had everything we needed. The location couldn't be any better for enjoying a night out on the town. I would stay here again without a doubt!

I have stayed here several times for everything from bachelor parties to law school visits, and I continue to come back. The ... location and luxury for the price are excellent. I think Graves strikes that value added balance perfectly.

Beautiful modern design hotel
Nan Oct 19, 2009
This downtown location was ideal for visiting the Guthrie Theater and the art museums that interested us. We were upgraded ... to a superior corner room with a lovely view of the skyline. This hotel compares quite favorably with our favorite NYC hotel at one-third the price. Of course, this is Minneapolis, but. . . The bed was quite comfortable. In addition, there was a desk and a love seat with a table. The room even had very good reading lamps at the bedside, which one often does not find, even in fine hotels. We did have to pay for internet service, however.

Great Hotel, Great City
E & N Oct 19, 2009
The staff at the hotel was exceptionally helpful. The Bradstreet bar on the first floor served up great cocktails, though ... the bar on the fourth floor was a bit pricey for what you got. The hotel is central to everything, including the light rail. Ask the concierge for recommendations, they gave us great places. I would highly recommend the 112 Eatery, just a few blocks walk from the hotel.
Traveler type: Couples
If you want a juicy lucy at Matt's bar, be prepared for a light rail ride and a 15 block walk. Well worth it, though.

Very modern - great location
VA1174 Sep 27, 2009
Arrived for a long weekend very late on a Friday night and the hotel and the area surrounding it were really active. Graves ... 601 Entrance is immediately across the street from the Target Center and Butler Square. The hotel is beautifully designed, but the layout is a bit atypical (bar/restaurant and access to guest towers is on fourth floor). Fitness center was well-maintained but small with very limited equipment. The rooms were very functional with neat design features -- great bathroom, big screen tv and small sitting area. On the down side, you could hear every door open and close on the floor and every conversation in the hallway. Made me wonder if this might have been an old hotel that got a very fancy cosmetic upgrade. That said, these are minor gripes and it was a great homebase... amazing design, helpful staff, fantasic location for visiting downtown Mpls...dontcha know :)

Ultra modern luxury
ilikemodern Sep 6, 2009
Great stay. Ultra modern, very clean. Beds and linens are luxurious. 5 point shower was great in the executive king room. ... Some noise from the street is still audible on a late friday night, even though we were on the 20th floor. Otherwise, this was a delightful place to stay, and we'd love to come again. Would recommend it to others.

For some of the best food in mpls, head down to the 112 Eatery on 3rd street. But call to get reservations, as it is hard to get into this place without advance notice.

Halfway upscale
First Time in Minnie Sep 6, 2009
First visit to Minneapolis, thought we'd stay downtown, somewhere more upscale than our usual. My Wisconsin farm-raised ... boyfriend was freaked out by the place at check in - too modern for him. Decor is like CB2 on crack. The bed is VERY cozy, the 42" flat-screen TV is great, the shower very nice. Beyond this, all the extras cost extra, and the place is just a souped up standard hotel room. Ours had a lovely view of the Target Center roof and a slow draining sink. There is no hair dryer. Valet parking is $28 per night (um, really? it's MINNEAPOLIS). There are a lot of loiterers out on the downtown streets at night, and a lot of cops. Next visit to the area, I probably won't stay downtown. But there is a nice sculpture garden just outside of downtown by the art museum, and a beautiful neighborhood around a small lake with a walking path that we liked very much.
