Good and bad
Good: Staff was attentive, though not always helpful. Great location for being in downtown Minneapolis. Bad: Biggest problem was with Internet access. It took 24 hours for them to figure out how to grant me access to their wireless network. As a business traveler that is not good. I was supposed to host a webinar while staying at this hotel, but because of the problems with the Internet, I had to make other arrangement. And they did not offer to compensate me for this lack of access to the Internet.

This was in a great location to the conference center and had a much lower price than any of the larger hotels downtown. I loved the interior decor, felt like Bogart would walk in any moment, the food was really good at a good price and bar was perfect to relax after a long day with some friends. I would have no hesitation to stay again.

Cheaper Alternative
We stayed here while attending an annual conference. It was a great deal compared to the hotel where the conference was located. The walk was fine because of the unseasonably warm weather, but it would not have been fun if it was cold. We were a bit disappointed that the courtesy shuttle would not drop us off near our conference location when providing service to others attending basketball games. Overall, good stay for the price.

Good visit
We stayed at the Normandy Inn in downtown Minneapolis and attended the Guthrie Theater. The location was perfect, the staff gave us free shuttle to and from the Guthrie, and the room was great. Do not expect a brand new hotel, since the Normandy was originally built in 1925. But it is very well maintained and has been updated to modern standards. We could easily walk the sky-ways to almost anywhere in the downtown area. Great value. We had an excellent breakfast in the Normandy's restaurant.

Family business in Minneapolis
Very quiet, clean, comfortable hotel in downtown Minneapolis. It's 3 blocks from the warehouse district of where there are excellent bars and restaurants! Use the skyway like I did on the cold days and you don't have to worry about the weather. Can't beat the price either as it is a little bit cheaper than the other hotels in the same area.

Wlaking distance to all the great restaurants and bars and again one can use the Minneapolis Skyway system to get to your location or close to it so that one can avoid the weather if it is cold!

Good location for Vikings game
Restaurant was a bit pricy but maybe not for the big city. Other than that, stay was enjoyable. Location was a short 5-6 block walk from Metrodome. Many guests were there for the game. Cookies and milk at 10pm was a huge hit and the cookies came warm right out of the oven!

Excellent for the Price
Clean, comfortable rooms, Nice pool and hot tub. Friendly staff. Excellent location. All at a price far less than other downtown hotels. I've stayed at the Normandy several times and will likely stay there again.

Retro feel
We stayed here while we were in town for a conference. Staying here saved us a bundle vs. staying at the conference hotel. Nice location--a little away from the downtown hustle and bustle, but within a reasonable walking distance. Common areas have a nice retro feel--think rat pack days updated. Friendly, helpful staff. Only a few blocks from the light rail Government Plaza stop. No need to rent a car at the airport. Our room had a mini-fridge and microwave. My only complaint was that the bed was a little too soft. Would consider staying here again.

"Black Bamboo" asian restaurant near the hotel is not fancy, but quite delicious. If you've got kids, they've got corn dogs.

Nice couple of nights
It was a "pleasure stay," with a little business thrown in. The staff was great, and accommodated us by stowing and unstowing our bikes several times. It would have been nice to have free parking and some sort of breakfast, but we knew part of that going in. Minor annoyances: a very loud A/C fan, and we didn't know about the room-darkening drapes until we checked out. We'd go back, though!
