We were visiting our son for Family Weekend at Carleton College. Lakeville was the closest hotel available. It turned out to be convenient to both Northfield and Minneapolis. Very clean and comfortable. We plan to book there again for graduation.
I had two different rooms that were supposed to be "smoke free", but they smelled horrible. It wasn't just smoke though, it smelled almost like a mold or something. The entire building was musty and moldy smelling. I don't know why they don't open
the windows to air it out. The lobby area including the continental breakfast/beverage area smelled like urine. I actually felt sick when I woke up with a completely congested nose from the smell. I would never stay there again.
When I was in need of a hotel, I immediately searched for this particular one on the site, knowing that I had an enjoyable stay the last time. The room was clean and the bed was nice. Although I wasn't able to stay for breakfast it smelled wonderful.
The hotel looks like a fresh coat of paint and new carpet has been done lately. I wouldn't call it anything special, but it wasn't a dive either. The room was very nice and I have nothing to complain about, which is why we were there. I just wish
the price had been more reasonable for a Friday night in March.
For the price, I expected a nicer room, it was average, the beds were not comfortable, the coffeemaker was awful, the pool was not that nice, hot tub was broken.
They have a great location, staff was nice. I was just disappointed.
