Ok Accomodations

Nice staff. Hotel was referred by a family member whose main requirement is allowing pets, so they have that going for them. For the cost of the room, I would have expected a little more, like a mini fridge or small breakfast. The restaurant attached to the hotel is robbery on the food cost and service is slow, with the food being ok, but certainly not worth the cost. It was by no means a bad experience, but next time I will be staying at another place across the parking lot.

party central on NY eve, THEN family friendly 1/1

We traveled to Fairmont to both visit my sister and spend New Years Eve with family friends where the kids could have fun swimming and playing together (that family also stayed in the hotel). What we did not know was that this hotel is the spot for locals to spend the holiday and that our kids would get an education in partying while using the pool packed with other guests and their friends (many of whom I suspect were not actually staying in the hotel) in various stages of intoxication. Even two guys swimming in hotel bedsheets (togas) and laurels made out of the balcony plastic plants. It was difficult to navigate the balcony hallways as they were crowded with drinkers outside the rooms seemingly oblivious to those of us who simply wanted to get by them. The noise was deafening until the wee hours, but my kids fell asleep anyway. The next day and night were lovely and quiet and the kids swam and played all day and into the evening. Very relaxing and much more like the experience we had planned. We had a lovely family dinner in the Green Mill bar (the restaurant was closed for the holiday). The room was clean and comfortable and the staff exceptional. I must mention one housekeeper in response to my asking about the vending area, physically walked me halfway around the hotel to show me where it was! She was busy and showed thoughtfulness and a smile nonetheless. I would recommend the hotel, but not for children on New Year's Eve!
