Great Room
Had to stay overnight in Minneapolis for an early flight out the next morning to Boston. The staff was courteous and helpful. Easy to get to and easy to get to the airport from the hotel. Room was clean and very comfortable. The room was small, but all I needed was a bed and a TV anyway. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to all.

Good value
Got an inexpensive room that provided just what I needed - a place to stay. Nothing fancy. My only complaint is the lack of a hair dryer in the bathroom - something I would assume would be fairly standard. There are stores and restaurants within a couple miles which was convenient. Also convenient to airport.

Haven't stayed anywhere for a better price and great staff
I was a little skeptical at first, exspecailly for the super low price but, the Staff was SOOOOO wonderful - and customer service is always top priority in my book. The bed was super comfy and when I asked for another blanket and pillow - the staff was more than happy to get them for me. The only thing that I was just a little disappointed about was there wasn't a waffle maker just the premade waffles at breakfast but for the price this is easily overlooked.

don't forget to bring your hair dryer
Microtel is an exfellent value. The rooms are European-style small, but certainly adequate for a single traveler (what would i do with another 500 sqft? The AC is very quiet, which is unusual in inexpensive hotels, and a key ingredient for my recommendation. HOWEVER: they do not provide hair dryers in the room, so you must bring your own. For some people this is a big deal

Hit and miss
I stayed at this hotel two times - once on a Friday as I was driving to Canada, and again the following Friday on my return. We chose this hotel due to it's nice proximity to I-35 and their "pet friendly" policy. However, my experience was different on the two stays. First Stay: We arrived around 1 AM. The desk clerk was chipper and friendly, and was happy to help. He even let bringing our dog "slide" and did not charge the extra fee since we came in so late and would be leaving early the next morning. The hotel lobby was clean but the niceness ended once we got on the elevator. It reeked of cigarette smoke. Pretty much "hold your breath" bad. The hallway smelled odd, and then when we got to our room, the A/C was not on and the room was very warm and humid - not very inviting or comfortable for people arriving so late and just wanting to crash. The sheets are very nice and the bed comfortable. The carpet in the room had a very bad black stain that extended from the door that connects to the adjacent room maybe 4-5 feet into the room. The bathroom was nice and clean. Breakfast was acceptable for continental breakfast - bagels, bread, a toaster, cereal, milk, fruit, etc. Second Stay: We arrived around 12:30 AM. The desk clerk was very friendly and happy to help. This clerk followed procedure and charged the $15 for our dog (I did ask for him to waive it since the last clerk did but he gently declined). Again the elevator reeked of cigarette smoke and the hallways still smelled weird. Also the room A/C was again not turned on. This room did not have the black stain on the carpet, but did have two other issues. One of the beds had a very large wet spot on the sheets, and the bathroom had a large buildup of black soap scum looking grime on the corner of the floor by the bathtub. When touched with a shoe it smudged - gross. We told the desk clerk about the two issues and he gladly gave us the empty room next door. The room next door was cleaner but did have the black stain on the carpet, and also had a large spot behind the door that had been sloppily patched and hardly painted. Summary: If I am passing through the cities again and just need a place to sleep, I would probably look elsewhere first but would fall back on this hotel if necessary since the bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. If I was staying in town for several days, I would not consider this hotel due to the odd odors.
