Great location!

We stayed in Duluth for the fireworks show in Bayfront Park and this gave us such easy access. A little disappointed in the pool...kind of rundown and no kiddie area, depth started at 3 feet. The place could use an update, especially the staircase (which we took up 6 flights several times because the elevator was SO slow).

A Good Deal1

Easy to find & a perfect location in downtown Duluth. Convenient to lake & piers. Hotel's secondary entrance/exit convenient to safe parking. Nice swimming pool. Room not extravagant but clean. Comfortable beds. Bathroom clean with excellent water pressure for shower. No hot water shortage. See the Maritime Museum (free!); walk the piers. Have coffee, lunch at the many indoor/outdoor cafes. Drive over the Aerial Bridge & listen to your tires sing. This hotel is a winner!

Unimpressed

I was not impressed because I had to wait 1.5 hours for my room with two young children. The pool was off the main lobby which was cold due to the weather and not fun to walk through in bathing suits. We had no towels in our room and the draft from the window was bad. I did like the location because we walked to the DECC and back for a concert. The staff was wonderful and brought us towels and have us cards for free drinks in one of the hotel restraunts.

Underwhelming for the price

Considering there are a number of boutique hotels in the area that are the same price, but offer more amenities and higher-end accommodations, this hotel is lacking. The decor throughout is old and very much in need of an update. The man at the check-in counter when we walked in was, to say the least, surly and short. The Sleep Number beds are nothing more than a glorified air mattress. There really isn’t much around the hotel, either. It was a 15-20 minute walk to Canal Park, and about a 10 minute drive to any good restaurants. The view from our room was the high point of the hotel itself, but that was only because our expectations were set so low by the décor and staff before we got there. We also paid extra for the Lakeview room, so keep that in mind. The best part of the hotel was bartender Josh down at Bowery Brothers, the bar attached. Bottom line: If this hotel is in your budget for the trip (around $150, in case it changes), stay elsewhere. Though, you should stop in an get a drink from Josh.

Slept on Mattress Cover.

Didn't notice that we were sleeping on a bed with only a mattress cover and no draw sheet on the 2nd night night there. Mattress cover wasn't very clean. Very disappointed with that, otherwise room was nice.

Small room

The main room was small and the bathroom you could not move in. I certainly thought I was getting more for the amount of money I was spending. I was a little disappointed with the room we got.

Family getaway

Perfect location, hotel is dated (rooms and amenities) our room was incredibly smelly (musty/mold). Staff sprayed with Febreeze which masked the stink for a few hours only to return.

Girls weekend

I did not have a positive experience at this hotel except for breakfast in the rotating restaurant. My reservation was supposed to include 2 queen beds as there were 3 of us. When I checked in, the clerk did not tell me that our room had only one king-size bed--my girlfriend had to call me. The clerk could only give us a cot--at no charge. They were not very fast at getting the cot delivered as they had only one person doing that sort of thing. We could barely walk around it or the rest of the room. And, of course, I also had to request another set of towels. Also, for the price of this room, the refrigerator should have been stocked. I was surprised and disappointed that this hotel did not have an amenities/gift shop as Duluth is definitely a tourist town.

Very disapointing property

We paid $170.00 per night for this property. The room we reserved (King) was not available. We were switched to two queen beds. The room was not available for over an hour while we waited in the lobby. The room smelled terrible, the adjustable bed did not work, the paint was peeling off the trim and the plaster was stained and ready to fall off the ceiling over the shower. I stay in many hotels every year as I travel for work. This was undoubtedly one of the most over priced and under delivered rooms I've ever had the displeasure to stay in. I'll never stay at this property again. Mercifully, it was only one night.
