Very nice rooms and great location
You can't beat the location, right in Canal Park. Walkable to a lot of good restaurants and an easy 15 minute drive to the airport. Staff was very helpful and provided dining recommendations and directions to the airport. The room was very nice and the bed was super comfy! Good breakfast and if you don't have time for it, they have ready a to go breakfast in bag with bottled water. Really nice touch.

Must Stay at Hotel for Free Parking
Could hear persons above our room everytime they walked. Rooms could have been half the price. Two days will cost you almost $500.00. Hard to spread your money around where your vacationing (Canal Park) when most of it is going for your room. Parking seems to be the big issue with Canal Park and the hotels there. If you stay at the hotels your fine, if not, either pay the meters or get towed. Will not stay again unless the rates are cut significately.

Very Nice Hotel
We loved the hotel. It was very clean and quiet. The rooms were recently renovated and were very nice. It's at a great location in canal park. It was easy to walk anywhere, including up the boardwalk to Fitgers (definitely go there for the brewhouse and Portland Malt Shoppe next door!). Every morning there was a newspaper at our door and the breakfast was solid. Good waffles!

We WILL be coming back!
We were in Duluth for Elton John's concert and loved the convient location to ... everything! The "continental" breakfast was extremely sattisfying. Can't wait to spend more time there in the future! Very comfortable room, too!

Perfect for the business trip
Perfect for the quick business trip - accommodations were very good, including complimentary breakfast. Hotel was in midst of renovations which limited the number of available rooms but other than seeing one contractor very early in the morning on my elevator ride down to breakfast (and she was very pleasant) I didn't see or hear any signs of construction during my stay.

Doesn't get much better...
My son and I went up to Duluth to attend a bike swap and do some riding only to be hit with an early spring snow. We found so much to do in the immediate area that the snow didn't matter. We got some biking in as well as geocaching and sightseeing too. The lake path is just outside the Hampton Inn so once the snow stopped, we hit this numerous times to go downtown and hit other sites along the route.

Bring a gps if you're into geocaching...there're a bunch of caches right next to the hotel and along the lake path.

Great find - but not in January
I booked the HI at Canal Park because it was 1/2 the price of the hotel my meeting was at - and next door. I was very pleased. It had a very homey lodge feel to it and it was very tastefully done. The had a 'sunroom' that was great to sit in and read or look out at the lake, etc. The rooms were very tasteful and comfortable and had been renovated recently. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and the breakfast lady was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it was minus 31 during my only full day there and very windy. I'm sure this would be a great place to stay in spring, summer, and fall, or if you have to be in Duluth in the winter.

Great place to unwind!
I reserved two Whirlpool Suites for New Years Day...one was on the first floor, and mine was on the second. Both rooms were lakeside and had an outstanding view of the lake and the lighthouses at the end of the pier. Each had a grecian styled whirlpool with columns and mirrored walls...VERY romantic..the second floor suite was larger with an entryway that went in to the sitting area. Both had a seperate toilet and shower room, and bedroom with a king size bed. It was cozy, felt like a second home. The continental breakfast was good, and while we were there, not that crowded. I didn't swim, but the pool was small and shallow. Perfect for kids.... While there, we had lunch at Fitger's Brew House on Superior Street, a great place to check out with all of their history and of course, home-brews. :) We walked the pier, and visited the Maritime Museum which is located right next to the pier and canal...very interesting information about the great lakes and shipwrecks. Had cocktails at Angie's Cantina, Grandma's, Famous Dave's and Old Chicago...they are all located within walking distance. The day we were leaving, an Ore boat went out and one came in. If you've never seen that before, it's an experience in itself. They are HUGE vessels...I highly recommend The Hampton Inn and Canal Park, it's a GREAT getaway!
