Welcoming guests to Bloomington for over 40 years

IIt's hard to believe that circa 1960 this Bloomington hotel would one day end up next to the largest tourist attraction in Minnesota -- the Mall of America. The Ramada Mall of America is a three-star hotel with convenient access to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the ultra modern Light Rail. Summers are supreme at the hotel's Backyard Pool and Bar where guests can kick back at the outdoor pool, cocktail lounge and gas fire pits while enjoying live entertainment. The indoor pool and whirlpool are open year round.

Highlights

  • Free guest parking
  • Free high-speed wireless Internet access in all guest rooms
  • BackYard Pool and Lounge open rain or shine from Memorial Day to Labor Day
  • Free shuttle service to MSP Airport and the Mall of America

Rooms

The 255 guestrooms at the Ramada Mall of America include modern amenities. Guests enjoy a 32 inch flat-screen TV, cable, free high-speed wireless Internet access and clock radios with MP3 connection. Convenient coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board are also included. Some rooms include a comfy seating area, wood beam ceilings and a spacious work desk.

Features

The Ramada Mall of America boasts the only outdoor pool in Bloomington. Recreation is ample indoors, too, with a heated indoor pool, game room and fitness room. The on-site Boulevard Cafe and Pub offers American and Southwest-inspired cuisine, and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The most popular site is the Backyard Pool and Lounge. The unique resort-like atmosphere features live music, gas fire pits, and food and drink specials, all open rain or shine from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

convenient location and shuttles

The hotel is conveniently located with shuttles to the airport and mall. The place is huge and it seemed like we'd walked back to the airport by the time we got to our room. The room was well appointed, altho the shower was smallish, and the bed was actually very comfortable. Dont stay there though if there are conventions or weddings going on -- We were there during the unseasonably warm weather in Oct (2011) so there were wet kids screaming in the hallway, conventioneers heading to their rooms at 11pm, and people running down the halls at 1 and 2 a.m. Not restful. The front desk staff was overworked when we checked in at 6pm (didnt know what day of the week it was!) but Al was on the night shift when we left at 5:30am and he was great! Not the best hotel experience we've had, but then not the worst either.

CONVENIENT

The hotel was old but had a great feel to it! It was comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom smelled like smoke really bad... not sure if the room next door had smokers, but I did not like that smell at all! Also, my pillow smelled like smoke too, otherwise, the stay was perfect!

One Night Business Trip

Shuttle service (only one driver) ran all over the place. There was not schedule posted...I had to call the hotel to find out the schedule. Shuttle only runs 15 and 45 after the hour...other hotel shuttles were running more frequently. Check in was O.K. I arrived late so many of the amenities were closed. Resturant was closed. I was not offered alternatives for delivery but the guest before me was offered a menu. The hallway was clean but dark. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. Hotel is near the Mall of America. I'd stay again.

Shuttle to the Mall of America. You could walk but why hike tough terrain.

Comfortable accomodations

This is an older property that has been converted to a Ramada. It is in decent condition given it's age. The room we occupied was clean and in good repair. The hotel is one block from the Mall of America and very convenient to the airport. We had a drink at the bar in the courtyard and I observed that the pool appeared clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed here two nights and I would stay here again if I am in the area.

Oldie but a goodie

Do have a soft spot for this property- my prom was there in 1970. And it has aged better than I have. It is very standard- Room was clean and reasonably recently redone. Staff was friendly, things worked etc. It's real claim to fame is location- a stone's throw from the Mall of America and IKEA. Also very handy to the airport. It has the requisite indoor/outdoor pools and bars and restaurants but nothing to write home about - either good or bad. Just a basic property and decent value.
