pretty good

Family

Easy Weekend Stay

Clean, friendly staff, fast check-in, and delicious breakfast! Great location as well and the free shuttle to the MOA was awesome!

reserved smoke free room/ got a smoker

I reserved a smoke free room at this hotel, well in advance. When we checked in that evening, we were told that they were booked full & only had a smoking room for us. I asked how this could happen when I reserved a paid in advance room, well in advance. My wife has bad allergies & ended up sleeping in our car. How did this happen? I have never had an experience like this before.

Low Integrity and Horrible Interaction

I've stayed at hundreds of hotels. I've had great experiences at similar hotels. I'm building a new office in Minneapolis and this hotel will never, ever be a destination for our team. We booked, via our favorite online website, and specifically requested a non-smoking room. I have allergic reactions to smoke, my son is worse and has been in ERs because of lung/smoke issues. Clearly this is important to us and our reservation specifically shows the request for non-smoking. When we arrived "Sugar" was at the front desk telling people that all that had left were smoking rooms and that the non-smoking were sold out. When we stepped up she said our online booking company had messed it up "as they often do" and requested a smoking room and handicapped accessible. Everyone around me commented and laughed at the obvious low integrity explanation as to why our room had been given away and we'd been "thrown" into a smoking room so they could fill one more room. Other hotels were sold out, we had no choice but to take the room. We slept only a couple hours a piece and my son is still very ill from the experience. I have a card here from Richard Engelhard the General Manage with his phone number. I decided to call as we left town. I let the phone ring 100 times at the front desk and no one ever answered. My company teaches and surveys customer experience and integrity. I hate being lied to, the staff should be replaced and the hotel should be removed from online booking eligibility. I'm not often this upset but do hope there will be some accountability.

Lots of construction. They charge $10 per day, if you leave your car in the lot.

Easy access, no hassles

Easy to find and ample parking, Staff prepared for 3rd party booking, easy and quick check in. Room clean, breakfast available at 6:30, plenty of stations and food. Easy in, out for quick stay

Nice experience

After a long day driving and walking around Minneapolis it was nice to find a comfortable bed. The breakfast was also very good and the wifi worked perfectly fine.

Poor Staffing

The first night I stayed it was alright, a little warm in my room (felt like the AC wasn't working properly) and there was one elevator down and this hotel has 17 floors. This left for only 2 elevators working. This was not the main issues though. The next day after I arrive back to the hotel from working, I wait about 4 minutes for the elevator to arrive. I had bought some groceries to place in the cooler that was in my room on the 7th floor. I get to the room and neither of my keys work. So then I had to wait for the elevator again with groceries in my hands and such. I get to the front desk and the receptionist says I can't keep the keys by my phone. I said they were not my phone was in my back pocket the whole day and the keys were in my purse. The receptionist should just apologize for the inconvenience instead of making it seem like this was my fault. Also, if this is an issue shouldn't they let Customers know when they check it that they need to keep their card away from their phone so it doesn't deactivate? Well I get to my room and it is hot!!! I call down to the front desk, took about 9 rings before anyone answered, and let them know that my ac is out. She told me that they were sending a maintenance worker up right now. About 1.5-2 hours later, still no service tech. I called again, she then said she was sorry but they wont be able to fix the AC that they will send someone up to bring keys to a new room. I was fine with that. I get to the new room and there was no refrigerator for the groceries that I bought. Well, I call the front desk again and the worker tells me to grab my things and come downstairs to the front desk and we will get you set up in another room with a cooler. I get down there with all may things and he tells me that since I booked through a 3rd party that we are not guaranteed a cooler. I said I understand that but I would not have bought groceries had I known that my AC was not going to work in my room and I get moved to a room without a cooler. He then said that they could put my groceries in the cooler downstairs so they don't go to waste. I said so you could inconvenience me more every time I need something I have to take the elevator that takes forever. Finally, they were able to switch me to a room with a cooler after much complaining. This is not how Customer service should be especially when you are in the wrong. I will never stay here again or at another La Quinta.
