No Longer Should Be Award Winning Hotel
Dugger Dec 15, 2009
I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last year and a half and those stays were terrific! This time though I can say it ... was way below average. I went use the coffee mug in the room and one had like sludge or some dark colored matter on the inside. It about made me throw up because it looked like fecal matter. What is sick about this is that someone at this hotel had to wash this mug and put it on a rack for another person to use. Then the cleaning staff put it back on the shelf in the room with a crown plaza lid and they didn't even catch this mess. What really bothered me is when I took this mug down to the front desk staff and there were two of people there. One male and one female. I wish I could give you their names but wasn't thinking about that when I was looking for satisfaction. All the girl could say was oops sorry about that. That is all she said! I just stood there in disbelief thinking they might try to make this situation right by doing something further to make my stay more positive but not a thing. To make this stay even worse is that I found hair in the bathtub. That is gross. It makes you not even want to take a shower after that. I have seen things in a lower level hotel before but this is a high level hotel and this just shouldn't happen. I want to make something very clear. I never complain about things like this but when there was no sympathy or satisfaction from the staff and thats why I am writing this today. If this was an award winning hotel before, I think that people might want to re-think about this before staying here. Lastly, I stayed at another upper class hotel in the Minneapolis area a few years ago and it was a two night stay. They forgot to change the towels between the two days so I called the front desk and asked for some. They told me that they didn't have anyone that could bring them up and it was late so they told me that they would make things right with me the next morning. They sure did, they only charged me for one night of the two. They didn't have to do that but they did. Here at the Crown Plaza all I got was an ooops sorry and zero sympathy. Hope your luck is better than mine.

Great value

This hotel was a great value for the price we paid. The room had a 42" HD TV, which was a pleasant surprise. Stafff was ... friendly and responsive. The one negative was the breakfast buffet. The food was often lukewarm and some was almost inedible; the price was high and the service was spotty. We enjoyed [...] who does most of the heavy lifting in the restaurant. However, we were disturbed by a young red-headed man who almost threw a cup of coffee at us when we had to ask for it.

Motown Dupe Nov 30, 2009
Easy check in, we loved the large pool, hot tub, sauna and work out room. There were only a few people in the hotel as is was ... the night before Thanksgiving. THe only thing that was annoying was the tv, although it was HUGE and very nice - it didnt work very well at all. The family was trying to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade ( a family tradition) and the tv could not hold the digital signal for more than 15 seconds without cutting out - very annoying.

This hotel is one of the best crowne plaza's I've stayed in. Whenever I travel for business to Minneapolis, I ALWAYS stay ... here. It's a great location, very clean and modern, flat screen TV, extremely comfortable beds, great staff and quiet hotel. This is one of my favorite hotels to stay in -- and I travel all over the US!

Attended conference in another hotel across the highway. Basically used the Crowne Plaza as a place to sleep. Other than ... having to take a cab to cross the highway (not accessible by foot), this hotel was very convenient for my needs. Staff very helpful--especially in providing excellent driving directions to get us to downtown Minneapolis during rush hour in time for a theater performance!

Staff was extremely pleasant and helpfull. Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The big screen TV in our room ... was a plus as well as the high flow shower. As stated before the outside is a bit dated but the inside was modern and had all the ammenities of any other hotel including a HUGE pool. The location though was awesome. 20 minutes to Valley fair, Mall of America and the MN zoo. Right off two major highways, 494 and 100 so getting around was easy. Would definately stay there again.
