Convenient for Families
Great property for families. We had a quick overnight trip. Nice pool area, kids really enjoyed themselves. Property was clean and staff was friendly. Rooms were comfortable. They did get a little warm during the night even with temp turned down but we had 5 people in the room so it wasn't anything a small travel size fan couldn't fix. Great property, would definitely stay again.

Property has restaurant on site which is really nice for families but there are also a lot of nearby restaurants as well. Perkins and Culvers are both within a short walking distance.

Service
The light went out in some sections of the hotel, including the section I was in. That night I was moved to another room. The next morning I was told I would be credited for that nights charge. I returned home and found the credit was already posted to my account. I would not hasitate to stay there again.

It was adequate for our needs.
Adequate, but dull. Our room missed being cleaned one day of three. Sports bar was a relief.

MMMM
No control over noise at pool. Not children yelling but slapping the water with pool toys making annoying slamming noises. Children slamming doors.

Holiday Inn
My room was poolside on the first floor, which I was really excited about. It was convenient to get in and out of via the patio doors. But apparently not very safe for three women to stay alone in. After receiving an upsetting phone call from another hotel guest who whispered into the phone that he "could see you" to my roommate, the front desk seemed unconcerned until the father of one of our friends stepped in. After being told that the police should be called, the front desk did in fact have security escort us to a new room and the police showed up. There was no way for the hotel to trace who had called our room since they had disabled that feature. The police told them to look into enabling that feature as a protective measure for their guests. Their way of making up for the inconvenience of an incident that required the police was a 20 dollar gift certificate for breakfast. Somehow that doesn't make it up to me. Also when I tried to check into the room they informed me that a balance was due, evem though I had paid in full through Orbitz. The live bands in the bar were incredibly loud, and my room was right at the end of the poolside area. Could hear the band until about 1:30 in the morning.

Interesting
America's lodging places are running out of hot water. NOT HERE! Maybe what is most impt. in overnight accommodations is taking a hot shower. This place has that. I also thought being called after we got to our room by the front desk is a wonderful thought. It was even OK that some teenager had a pool party for his birthday. Maybe all this place needs is one more blanket on the bed when you crank up the a.c. A very friendly check-in person and the manager were amenable. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
A requirement is eating at the "Old Mill". The chicken & shrimp was OK but the service & especially the view of the dam are incredible. This should be a required stop as enticing as Spamarama.
