Comfort Inn Albert Lea

The hotel is only 10 years old (according to the lady at the front desk) but looks seriously (!) outdated. The matress is so soft we could not get comfortable at all - 2 nights of horror in their bed. When checking out the front desk lady, who was very nice about it, asked if we enjoyed our stay. Answering on the status of their bed, she told us that the matresses are in there since the hotel was built - 10 years. That is incredible!! Until they have their rooms renovated I would not stay there again. Once they did no problem, as the staff seemed very friendly; Minnesota nice. The pool area is nice, however they need to get a better grip on the chlorine amount they throw in there. 10 minutes into it and your eyes get irritated.

First, we get there at 8 PM. Parking lot is full, so I am hoping they will still have some rooms. I ask for a room for two, my 16 year-old son and I. They tell me they have only two rooms left, the Executive Suite with two beds for $129 and the Jacuzzi Suite with one large bed for $109. I hesitate on deciding, and they tell me they can cut the price of the Executive Suite down to $109 for me. Tired from traveling, I say okay. They give us our room and we get there and find out they have given us the Jacuzzi Suite with only one bed. The Jacuzzi Suite is two rooms divided by French doors. The glass in the French doors was covered with children's hand prints and one area looked like it had been sneezed on from the droplets spattered all over it. The door handle had peanut butter or something sticky on it. About 11 PM my son goes to get some ice. On the way he passes the front desks, and observes the staff telling an elderly couple that they have two rooms left. When he tells me this I begin to wonder if I have fallen prey to a scam of some kind. The fan for the heater/air conditioner unit in the room was so loud I had to eventually shut it off completely in order to get any sleep. I got about two hours of decent sleep there. I hope I never have to stay there again. On the return trip I went an extra forty miles out of my way to stay at a different hotel.

the room was surprisingly quiet, even being so close to a huge truck stop. It was very convenient and the breakfast was decent.

I ordered two non-smoking, adjoining rooms through Orbitz. Unfortunately, that was the mistake- I received two smoking rooms (still smelling of smoke from the last occupants) and they were not adjoining. The staff was nice, but they said they could do nothing because we did not book through them.
