good location, new hotel, overpriced, awful beds and pillows
The hotel is either new or recently remodeled, and was very clean and neat.
We stayed at this hotel for a week during the peak of the autumn fall colors. The hotel was reasonably priced for during the week, but was ridiculously overpriced for what
you get for the weekend. We cut our stay short and moved to another location to avoid over-paying for a second weekend. The bed was rather uncomfortable and the pillows were very lumpy. I needed to take a sleep aid to fall asleep (which I don't usually need) and we went to a local store to buy pillows after two nights of awful sleep.
The location is great, being a close drive to downtown.
The breakfast was delightful, with sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy every morning, in addition to make-your-own waffles and cold cereal, fresh fruit, and yogurt.
The breakfast lady was really grumpy every morning. The ladies at the front desk were always very nice and accomodating.
The hotel was laid out very well, making it very easy to load and unload the car, which is really important for us, as we were traveling with an infant.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Traverse City is a great "jumping-off" point for the surrounding area. From here, you can get to so many fun attractions, in just a short drive. There are so many things to do in the surrounding area: wineries, great scenery, fun restaurants, and great outdoor opportunities like Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I suggest doing a tour of the Leelanau Peninsula, Mission Peninsula, and Sleeping Bear Dunes.
